If you can't get enough of this author it's another great book. It verged on cookie cutter for me. A lot of the plot, settings and dialog were way to familiar and overall it's not his best work.

Very slow and condescending. This book takes forever to make a simple point, pats itself on the back a lot and the narator speaks like he's addressing a 10 year old that's been bad or like a religious deprogrammer from Saturday Night Live. The text explains and explains and explains each point like they don't really think you can get it. Maybe they were trying to give me another reason to "not be my brain" ;) These are simple yet good concepts and I think it could make a good reference in a print version.

Kudos to the author for writing a character so believable that he pissed me off. The protagonist and his surroundings were created so well that I could find nothing redeemable about the main character. A selfish drunken thief, a lazy social parasite, refusing to better himself in the least. I used to think that this segment of the historical population were just down on their luck but they were only stealing ours.

YUK, it's a romance novel!

It's a steamy romance novel. Every other line is sexual innuendo, flirting or planning sexual innuendo and flirting. Legitimately intimate scenes are drawn out so ad nauseum that there is barely a thread of plot left to hold the story together. This is the first book I have not been able to finish in a very long time. Two stars instead of one?, because the author came up with some very inventive Witch/Vampire lore. 1) This book could have easily stood on its own without relying on a 20 hour sex scene. or 2) The publisher and/or Audible does the author a great disservice by not marketing it correctly.
