it's pretty good...not my favorite
Revisado: 11-07-11
Having read "Pursuit" prior to reading "Justice" I was looking forward to see how Jess and Mark's life together was going, only to find out they are not together any more. Mark's done something stupid, a fact of which he was well aware at the time he did it, and did it anyway (a passionate kiss with a former lover, who happens to be Jess's boss, knowing Jess could walk in, and she did). This kiss taking place after Mark had asked Jess to marry him and while they were still living together. Jess breaks off the relationship. Mark then begins accusing Jess of having "trust issues", saying it was only a kiss and she won't "commit" to a real relationship. Well........duh!
"Justice" then procedes similar to "Pursuit", bad guys trying to kill Jess, Mark trying to keep her alive (while trying to get her back), same senario as "Pursuit", different situations and different bad guys. If you liked "Pursuit" (and I did) you'll like "Justice".
Makes me wonder if there's going to be a third book with Jessica and Mark, just to get things worked out between them.

Linda Howard....finally
Revisado: 09-07-11
Is this the best book Linda Howard has ever written? I don't know, I doubt it though. Her next book could the best one she's ever written who's to say. This one wasn't bad. It has a good story, different. My least favorite plot device is the giant misunderstanding, there is very little of it in this book (Linda's pretty good at avoiding that, which is why she is one of my favorites).
This story takes place in the mountains, but without snow (thank you very much, I really hated "Ice"). There's enough action to keep you interested, there's a man killing black bear and a human killer and of course they both, at some point try to kill the heroine, Angie. Dare (cute name, right) is the hero and in true Linda Howard style he's an alpha type male but not to the extreme, he respects and at the same time truly desires Angie, I much prefer that to a hero who spends a great deal of time resenting the object of his affection in an effort not to love her (more of that misunderstanding stuff, which is just boring), the romance is paced well and believable.
Both Dare and Angie own competing hunting guide services. Dare's is more successful and Angie's is going under, so the story begins. Angie is taking two men on a black bear hunt, which is probably going to be her last hunt, as she has put her business up for sale. The action begins there. I don't want to say more about the story because it makes the read more fun if you don't know. But in true Linda Howard style you get to see the story from all viewpoints, Angie, Dare, the killer and most interestingly the black bear, which was truly different.
In my opinion this is her best book since "Death Angel".
In short, if you like Linda Howard, you'll like this book.

Shaving!!!!!
Revisado: 06-04-11
Don't get me wrong....I like a little edge. I'm a big fan of Lords of the Underworld, everything Jeaniene Frost has done and all of the Black Dagger Brotherhood....but this, I'm 4 1/2 hours in and castration along with disimbowelment is the entertainment of the evening! The story is complex, lots and lots of characters, I don't mind that. I understand any first book in a series often has lots of characters that become storylines later on, then it's fun to go back to the beginning and read again......but not this. I got pass the rats eating off a man's gentials early on...and thought well, that's rough but okay. I was wrong, that was nothing.
The story has some promise, which is a shame, because I really like a good story.

Not her best
Revisado: 08-13-10
I'll freely admit this is not Sandra Brown's best effort. Out of the over 70 books she has had published (close to 60 on the NY Times Best Sellers list) there are several I like better than this one. Envy,of course, being my favorite along with The Alibi, Chill Factor, Mirror Image as well as some of the "romance" titles, Bittersweet Rain, Slow Heat in Heaven and others.
Tough Customer isn't bad, it's just not her best. I liked the back story involving Dodge and Caroline, it was interesting. The current story which involved Berry and Sky as well as Dodge and Caroline just didn't quite make it for me.

Historia
Jaclyn Wilde is a wedding planner who loves her job - usually. But helping Carrie Edwards with her Big Day has been an unrelenting nightmare. Carrie is a bridezilla of mythic nastiness, a diva whose tantrums are just about as crazy as her demands. But the unpleasant task at hand turns seriously criminal when Carrie is brutally murdered and everyone involved with the ceremony is accusing one another of doing the deed. The problem is, most everyone had his or her own reason for wanting the bride dead, including Jaclyn.

Was Joyce Bean busy?
Revisado: 08-11-10
Talk about missing the point. I think the delivery would have better with a speech enhanced Kindle. This is a funny, tongue-in-cheek mystery, along the lines of Blair Mallory. This is a area Linda Howard does extremely well and this book is no exception. The narration was just wrong, not bad, just wrong. Clarinda Ross was perfect for Waltzing at the Piggly Wiggly but totally missed the mark here. This book needed someone like Joyce Bean or Susan Ericksen.
With that said, I decided to just rate the book, which is Linda Howard all the way, well written characters and a good plot line. You know who-done-it and why early on, but still it's a fun ride.

Historia
Strong telepath Elle Drake has gone missing. Even her six magical sisters cannot find her. They all agree that she is alive and something terrible must have happened or she would have contacted them. Jackson Deveau, a deputy sheriff in the small village of Sea Haven, off the northern California coast, has known that Elle is destined for him. When she disappears, he gathers with his friends, Jonas Harrington and Ilya Prakenskii, and Elle's sisters to find her and bring her safely home.

Perfect ending to a good series.....
Revisado: 07-20-10
I put off reading this last intallment of the Drake sisters for nearly a year. The reviews were so bad, bordering on scary. I thought I don't need to depress myself and went on to other things. Still I really wanted to know how the Drakes ended up, so I finally gave in and got it yesterday. I just finished. This one was amazing and unique, it was touching, at times painful, it was all the things we all read for. It was the perfect end to a really good series.
Christine Feehan can be repetitive, if I never hear the phrase "They couldn't tell where one ended and the other one began" again in my life it would be too soon. And that phrase, or some form of it does appear in this book but still this book is absolutely my favorite of this series. Elle and Jackson's encounters in books earlier in the series were usually based on misunderstandings, a really tiresome plot device, and that was yet another reason to put off reading this book. Happily that was not the case. Elle and Jackson's relationship is solid, they learn to rely on and respect each other almost from the very beginning of this book. Which makes this book such a nice change from the rest of the books in this series.
A number of loose ends from several of the earlier books get wrapped up in this last installment, always a nice way to end a series. All the sisters and their respect others play prominent roles in this book, which if you haven't read the entire series would make it a bit hard to keep up, however if you have it's a real joy.
If you have read the rest of this series but not this book because of the poor reviews, all I can say is give it a chance, you won't be sorry.

Revisado: 02-24-10
It could be said this novella is two hour commerical for Amazon (I'm sure they didn't mind anymore than Fedex did when "Cast Away" came out) but still it was a light fun story. You can't help but love Stephen King and Holter Graham was perfect.

Welcome Home to Virgin River
Revisado: 01-27-10
If you are into this series, you'll love this one. It' basically about Rick & Liz, but mainly it catches you up with everyone in Virgin River. It's a great addition to the series. I've read them all Kindle but still hearing them is always a treat. This series though, more than others must be listened to or read from the first, starting with "Virgin River". Should you choose to read this series, by the time you get to this one you'll love it as much as everyone else does. Robyn Carr does a fantastic job of developing characters and situations that keep you wanting to come back to Virgin River to see what's happened. That is the best trait of a great story teller, Robyn Carr is a great story teller.

Daisy Minor is bored. Worse than that, she's boring. A plain, small-town librarian, she's got a wardrobe as sexy as a dictionary and hasn't been on a date in years. She's never even had a lukewarm love affair, let alone a hot one. So when she wakes up on her 34th birthday, she begins transforming herself into a manhunting party girl. But one night she sees something she shouldn't - and suddenly she becomes the target of a killer.

When you need a lift...this is a fun story
Revisado: 12-07-07
I've read this book in hard copy, I've even managed to find an unabridged library copy of the audiobook and yes the abridged version is not as good, but still it'll give you a lift. It's just fun read. If I have a really down day or read something that's heavy, or simply ends sad this book is a great way to perk up your day. For me, Linda Howard is my number one "must read". Open Season is not her best, not her most touching, not her best mystery (since there really isn't any mystery to mention in it) but it has to be something she wrote when she was having a really good day. If you need a lift, Daisy and Jack are good way to start.
