Historia
Friday, October 31. 9:37 p.m., 100 block of South Martel. A vandal threw a pumpkin through the front window of a house and several eggs at the front door. The police report read like just another Halloween prank - a nasty, petty act. But the attack is one in a recent spate of increasingly violent vandalisms targeting residents who have paid millions of dollars for their dream homes in the ritziest enclaves of Los Angeles.

A great series
Revisado: 09-06-22
I finished a great series then nothing I started help my interest until the first Molly Blume book ‘Blues in the Night’ I liked it so much I bought the rest of the series. This second book is even better. I’d have to write a book to tell you what all it offers. Mystery, comedy, a little Yiddish, a little of Jewish customs, romance, family, etc. I wish there were 100 in the series. Thank you Rochelle Krich, for fabulous entertainment.

Behind this door is a tale you don't want to miss.
Revisado: 06-23-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely. I was totally absorbed from the first sentence until the last. This author spins a tale that is mesmerizing.
What did you like best about this story?
I very much enjoyed there were no highs & lows, no ebbs & flows. This story kept pace, keeping my full attention. My mind never wandered as it does with many books. I didn't want to miss a word. All the main players were introduced to the point we knew them & what made them tick. All had their own character & were true to same.
Which character – as performed by Georgia Maguire – was your favorite?
Georgia was pure perfection throughout the entire book. If I had to pick I would pick Grace.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Many. I really don't want to say anything about the story line as it must be revealed as you listen.
Any additional comments?
This is a Psychological Thriller. It is shocking, gripping, thrilling, and bone-chilling. I will definitely read the next book by B.A. Paris.

It Didn't Cater to me!
Revisado: 10-24-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Not exactly. It wasn't good but it wasn't terrible. It is the first book in the series so I'm willing to give the second book a chance.
If you’ve listened to books by Diane Mott Davidson before, how does this one compare?
I've not read any other books by this author
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
I don't think she was right for this book. The character should be in her late 20's or early 30's but the narrator sounds like a 50 plus, life long smoker who smack talks like a gun toting moll. A sarcastic, caustic broad, not a young mom. She also sounds like she always has spittle in her mouth, which is difficult to hear.
Did Catering to Nobody inspire you to do anything?
No. however for some reason I purchased the first 4 books & there are 17 in this series so they must get better. I'm going to try and listen to the ones I have.
Any additional comments?
I wish the main character, Goldy, was happy more often. She seems on the verge of being rude and that makes her difficult to like.

A Selfish Witch is more like it.
Revisado: 01-01-15
What disappointed you about A Hidden Witch?
I really enjoyed the first book & the lovely characters. Personally, I found the (adult) main character of this book stomp-your-foot-temper-tantrum selfish. She was jealous, not satisfied when she got what she wanted & manipulative. I found her whiny, entitled, & tedious. So, to me, the book fell flat.
Would you be willing to try another book from Debora Geary? Why or why not?
Yes, I will. Hopefully there will be no more spoiled adults acting more immature than the 4 year old in the book.
Have you listened to any of Martha Harmon Pardee’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, I enjoy her work and found her delivery to be the saving grace of this book.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Other characters were introduced or developed a bit more.

Historia
Lauren is downtown Chicago's youngest elite realtor. She's also a witch. She must be - the fetching spell for Witches' Chat isn't supposed to make mistakes. So says the woman who coded the spell, at least. The tall, dark, and handsome guy sent to assess her is a witch too (and no, that doesn't end the way you might think). What he finds in Lauren will change lives, mess with a perfectly good career, and require lots of ice cream therapy.

Contemporary Twist on Finding a Witch
Revisado: 01-01-15
What did you love best about A Modern Witch?
The book was like the first day of summer. Light, airy and full of fun. Just the right amount of magic, romance & characters you want to be real.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I think Nell, but I enjoyed them all.
What about Martha Harmon Pardee’s performance did you like?
Martha did a wonderful job narrating this book.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I nearly did. It isn't the 'suspenseful page turner' but it is a book that if you have the time to sit and listen, will take you away to a place full of surprises, giggles, magic & romance, which will keep you entertained.
Any additional comments?
I'm excited I found Debora Geary and that this is a series!

Love sick - made me sick.
Revisado: 03-27-13
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No. People make fun of the teen series - Twilight - for the female character being so love sick. Well, to have the adult, male lead, (a professor at that) be so besotted be puts lives in danger is just nauseating.
Would you ever listen to anything by Harlan Coben again?
Yes, I have really enjoyed the books of his I have read. This one was good in so many ways, but a love sick, educated male is off putting. I ended up despising the lead chapter.
Which scene was your favorite?
Didn't really have one.
Did Six Years inspire you to do anything?
Yes, to watch TV and take a break from an overload of - you can't call this romance because that type of love is in no way romantic.

Laughs, Tears & a Place I'd Like to call Home
Revisado: 09-17-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely. I would for my friends who love peaceful journeys, who enjoy meadering down the path to see what each day brings. This book was a pleasure.
What other book might you compare Big Stone Gap to and why?
Jan Karon's Mitford Series. They are similar in they are about small town life, the characters who live, love, laugh, and pass into and out of your life. These are the type of books that refuel me.
Which scene was your favorite?
One that made me laugh outloud was the scene at the football games Halftime activies in front of the visiting dignitaries Elizabeth Taylor and her husband, Senate hopeful, John Warner.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes, and I leave that to the reader/listener to decide for themselves. I don't want to give anything away.
Any additional comments?
Yes, I was very concerned with the author being the narrator. In most cases I have found that doesn't work, but I wanted this book quite a lot so I gave in. Adriana Trigiani has won me over. She is perfect for the part. She IS the book. In fact, I was so please with this book & narrator I imediately purchased the next two in the series. I would have purchased the 4th but I ran out of credits.Thank you Adriana Trigiani for an absolutely delightful stroll through Big Stone Gap, a place I'd love to live.

Real life nightmare
Revisado: 05-15-12
If you could sum up Defending Jacob in three words, what would they be?
Real life nightmare
What was one of the most memorable moments of Defending Jacob?
I would prefer not to say as I don't want to spoil it for others
Have you listened to any of Grover Gardner???s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, I have and I have thoroughly enjoyed all his work.
If you could take any character from Defending Jacob out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Jacob's mother. Again I don't want to give the reason as it would be a spoiler.
Any additional comments?
This was a very good book, with twists and turns and an unexpected ending. I will certainly watch for more books by this author.
