Historia
Sex Matters tackles one of the most urgent, yet unspoken issues facing women's health care today: all models of medical research and practice are based on male-centric models that ignore the unique biological and emotional differences between men and women - an omission that endangers women's lives. The facts surrounding how male-centric medicine impacts women's health every day are chilling: in the ER, women are more likely to receive a psychiatric diagnosis with regard to opioid use, while men are more likely to be referred for detoxification.

As a medical provider for 30 years, this information was practice-changing. Excellent job by the author.

Historia
When 38 jetliners bound for the United States were forced to land at Gander International Airport in Canada by the closing of US airspace on September 11, the population of this small town on Newfoundland Island swelled from 10,300 to nearly 17,000. The citizens of Gander met the stranded passengers with an overwhelming display of friendship and goodwill.

👍👍 From one of the Plane People
Revisado: 12-30-19
Hi,
I was on Continental 23. I lived through this. Hearing what was going on in the other planes and with the other passengers was remarkable. I shed many a tear while listening to this book. I only wish I would have been able to contribute to the book. It was so nice living this experience again through this book. I plan to go back to Appleton this summer to visit and donate some more money.

Historia
In January 2019, culture writer Anne Helen Petersen set the internet on fire with her viral BuzzFeed essay diagnosing “millennial burnout” - a chronic state of stress and exhaustion that’s become a “base temperature” for young people today. Now, she continues this generation-defining conversation in a brand-new format, interviewing millennials around the country about their own deeply personal experiences with burnout, and the culture that creates it.

Vocal Fry: My ears hurt
Revisado: 10-15-19
Hello,
I am 15 minutes in and I’m not sure I can go on. The reader’s vocal fry is horrible. If one is reading a book for audio-recording, maybe stop the vocal fry.

Historia
Grunt tackles the science behind some of a soldier's most challenging adversaries - panic, exhaustion, heat, noise - and introduces us to the scientists who seek to conquer them. Mary Roach dodges hostile fire with the U.S. Marine Corps Paintball Team as part of a study on hearing loss and survivability in combat. She visits the fashion design studio of U.S. Army Natick Labs and learns why a zipper is a problem for a sniper.

Audiobook reader ruins the experience
Revisado: 12-02-16
This book is borderline unlistenable. The reader is overly expressionistic and tries way to hard to overemphasize each word and phrase. Also the readers voice is scratchy with vocal fry that has me turning off the book every 10 minutes.
Do not have this reader do any more audiobooks please
PS I wanted to rate the performance less than 1 star but it wouldn't let me.
Tim
