Historia
Most pastors and leaders are godly, wonderful people that don't abuse their sheep. They shepherd their flocks gently and patiently. But we can't ignore the growing number who do not. We need gentle shepherds now more than ever, and in Bully Pulpit, seminary president and biblical scholar Michael J. Kruger offers a unique perspective for both church leaders and church members on the problem of spiritual abuse, how to spot it, and how to handle it in the church.

Helpful Book for Any Church Leader
Revisado: 10-10-23
Lots of helpful information and advice. But nothing too advanced. The stories were not very in-depth, and the data was not too technical. So it’s an easy listen.

Historia
Dr. Rupert Sheldrake, one of the world's most innovative scientists, here shows the ways in which science is being constricted by assumptions that have, over the years, hardened into dogmas. Such dogmas are not only limiting, but dangerous for the future of humanity. According to these principles, all of reality is material or physical; the world is a machine, made up of inanimate matter; nature is purposeless; consciousness is nothing but the physical activity of the brain; free will is an illusion; and God exists only as an idea in human minds.

Sheldrake uses facts and experiments to reveal a far more interesting world than materialists insist we limit ourselves to. I recommend this book to anyone interested in understanding the nature of our world.

Historia
While many of us are familiar with such famous words as, "Dearly beloved, we are gathered together here. . ." or "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust," we may not know that they originated with The Book of Common Prayer, which first appeared in 1549. Like the words of the King James Bible and Shakespeare, the language of this prayer book has saturated English culture and letters.

So much more to the story than I knew
Revisado: 07-26-18
A titillating taste of the richness that is liturgy. Concise but very informative and easy to follow. Sadly, peppered with annoying mispronunciations. The Latin was atrocious, like the narrator didn't notice he wasn't reading English.

Historia
Faced with the ceaseless stream of news about war, crime, and terrorism, one could easily think we live in the most violent age ever seen. Yet as New York Times bestselling author Steven Pinker shows in this startling and engaging new work, just the opposite is true: violence has been diminishing for millennia and we may be living in the most peaceful time in our species's existence.

Paradigm-shifting, revolutionary book
Revisado: 01-13-18
So violence is declining. This is the kind of good news we reject because we cling to misery. But the research is thorough and compelling. Wish the narrator did a little better pronouncing French and names.

Historia
It still takes a major effort of historical imagination to enter the minds of those who lived during the Reformation Era; who were willing to suffer martyrdom or martyr others for what we would regard as minor doctrinal differences. These 36 lectures are designed to take you inside the minds of those who supported the Reformation and those who resisted it.

Historia
What makes good people do bad things? How can moral people be seduced to act immorally? Where is the line separating good from evil, and who is in danger of crossing it? Social psychologist Philip Zimbardo has the answers. He explains how - and the myriad reasons why - we are all susceptible to the lure of "the dark side". Drawing on examples from history as well as his own trailblazing research, Zimbardo details how situational forces and group dynamics can make monsters out of decent men and women.

Antidote to Evil
Revisado: 02-18-16
I wish everyone could read this book, because it talks about the potential for good and evil in everyone that is realized by situational and systemic factors.
Rather long winded and repetitive at times, but worth the effort. Hopefully there will be another shorter book for the busier/less patient.
