Mixed bag

The writing itself is great. Quality and engaging. The way the story wraps is a tad weird. Has a very Hollywood less than realistic ending. However, it was decent and kept me listening till the end. I really like the more recent book by this author The Evidence. I’d listen to more from this author.

I did not like how it ended. I was also a bit disappointed in the parts with the male narrator. Too much descriptive violence from that character. I still enjoyed the book overall. I love the narration. This author has written some excellent books and I like the writing style.

This is a hard one to write

I have LOVED all the books in this “series” the Dublin Trilogy, MCM Investigations, and Bunny Early Years. However, this new off shoot, McGarry Stateside, just wasn’t the same. I think two main reasons it disappointed me, first it’s not in Ireland. I am not interested in stories with US settings and characters. The second [SPOILER] reason is that the only character from the previous stories is Bunny. I found there to be too many introductions to new characters, too much unnecessary descriptions of settings and situations. I think the story and writing for this book would make excellent film, just not as smooth for a book. That being said the new characters are interesting, the humor good, and Bunny true to himself. I may wait until the author takes the story back to Ireland.

I’d give this 10 stars if possible

I listened through until the acknowledgements section at the very end, the author mentions the difference between writing a book and having a writing career. This author is truly worthy of having a writing career. The writing is top of the class, highest level. She seamlessly weaves several complex storylines and characters effortlessly. It’s not one of those books you need to hang on waiting for it to take off and get good. It starts brilliantly with gripping suspense. The narrator is perfect. All of these books have been great, but it seems to me the author is only getting better. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. Good stuff.

Absolutely awesome series

The writing is so great and the narrator is perfect. It’s a rare talent to write a classy, can’t stop listening, book that contains no vulgarity or excessive violence, just excellent well developed characters. I can totally get lost in these books. Must read the entire series, it’s definitely more like one long story.

Such a big fan of this series

I am so impressed with the writing and narration in this series. This author effortlessly manages to create such depth in character development and storyline. I love when a can become genuinely immersed in a story. I appreciate how the author maintains such class throughout his writing, never resorting to gore or cheap sensationalism. Yet, the mysteries and stories are always gripping.

Too many great things to mention

This is an excellent series. The writing is perfect. The characters are so well developed and it is done so seamlessly. The narrator is the best choice for the series also. Only thing I’d say is that if someone was to try and jump into the series without starting from the beginning, they would not understand some subtle details, and reading out of order could lead to spoilers from earlier books.
