Historia
Once shrouded in secrecy, the modern family, built with the assistance of gamete (egg or sperm) donation, is coming out of the shadows. As more people see friends, family members and celebrities use donor conception to build their families, the process has become much more mainstream and accepted. Donor sperm programs and egg banks have grown enormously in the past decade and the news is full of politicians, athletes and entertainers like Elton John, Anderson Cooper, Andy Cohen, Camille Guaty, Pete Buttigieg, and Natalie Imbruglia, who used donor gametes to have their children.

Important valuable information
Revisado: 02-14-25
This was a very well written book that was incredibly useful and brought to light a lot of scenarios and situations that I would’ve never considered. I hope the authors know how important this work was. While some of this knowledge is probably common place it is vital nonetheless. I hope they know that they’ve done a purely good service to the world by writing this. I want to thank them personally and I hope my own process through surrogacy goes well. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping families everywhere.

Dated but can still help
Revisado: 03-25-24
I am an ADHD veteran and studied it in college. So most of this information isn’t new. This is also very clearly dated. A lot of classifications have been renamed since the publication. If one has never looked into the condition before this might be a good place to start.
There is one section on dating that should be taken with a grain of salt. You will know it when you hear it, behaviors described, go beyond ADHD, and probably don’t align at all.

It was fun. I hated the villain, so good job. If you think this book is not intellectual or moving…what did you think you were in for when you read the title?

Historia
In Being Mortal, best-selling author Atul Gawande tackles the hardest challenge of his profession: how medicine can not only improve life but also the process of its ending. Medicine has triumphed in modern times, transforming birth, injury, and infectious disease from harrowing to manageable. But in the inevitable condition of aging and death, the goals of medicine seem too frequently to run counter to the interest of the human spirit.

Historia
Plenty of experts argue that anyone who wants to develop a skill, play an instrument, or lead their field should start early, focus intensely, and rack up as many hours of deliberate practice as possible. But a closer look at research on the world’s top performers shows that early specialization is the exception, not the rule. David Epstein examined the world’s most successful athletes, artists, musicians, inventors, forecasters and scientists. He discovered that in most fields—especially those that are complex and unpredictable—generalists, not specialists, are primed to excel.

Fun

I am heavily involved in biological sciences, so a lot of these ideas are not new to me and the aspects of the book that are patently absurd… Are patently, absurd. So to me the story felt derivative. It was still fun though.

Historia
For months, Mitch Rapp has been steadily working his way through a list of men, bullet by bullet. With each kill, the tangled network of monsters responsible for the slaughter of 270 civilians becomes increasingly clear. He is given his next target: a plump Libyan diplomat who is prone to drink and is currently in Paris without a single bodyguard. Rapp finds him completely unprotected and asleep in his bed. With confidence in his well-honed skills and conviction of the man’s guilt, he easily sends a bullet into the man’s skull. But in the split second it takes the bullet to leave the silenced pistol, everything changes.

Fun time
Revisado: 07-01-22
I am a big fan of psychic novels and stories so take that however you will. I greatly enjoyed this book and thought it was a very fun story and a decent sequel to the shining considering that a sequel wasn’t planned when writing the shining. And I do have to say I think the movie actually did a better job but I was not disappointed in the book whatsoever.
