This book kept me mesmerized. The Cuban perspective and throughly developed characters were such a treat. I loved every second and cried with the characters in triumph at the end. I can't wait to share it with my daughters.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

My favorite in the Frankenstein series!
Revisado: 08-31-22
While I loved all of them, this last book brought everything together in a way that left me feeling so happy and fulfilled. We need a little positivity to combat the last two years, and Dean Koontz delivers. I love the graphic horror mixed with the "where there is a will there is a way" mentality of the main characters. No complaints, not even that there isn't anymore, because it couldn't have ended up more perfectly. Note for those interested in the narration- Christopher Lane is incredible. Every character was distinct and so enjoyable to listen to.

Historia
Hetty’s family was torn apart following the German invasion of the Netherlands. Rounded up by the Nazis and then separated from their parents, Hetty and her brothers were sent to the Children’s House, within Belsen concentration camp. As one of the eldest, Hetty became the ‘Little Mother’, helping to care for not only her siblings, but the other children as well.In a direct and powerful style, Hetty recalls one of the remarkable, largely untold stories of the Holocaust – the extraordinary struggle and survival of this group of children through those terrible years.

This was beautiful and so engaging
Revisado: 05-07-22
While painful to hear, the authors account of her time in the hell of the camp was nothing less than inspiring. She could have played on the gory reality of the situation, but instead she kept a neutral mixture of optimism and realism that kept the story engaging, informative and relatable, even for those of us who could only imagine the evil she survived. I wish I could send her a big hug and tell her that we see her and hear her triumph over the oppressors. I think the entire world could benefit from reading stories like this.

Loved it
Revisado: 01-23-22
Loved it. No struggle to listen or finish. And the continued tension toward a Bess-imon was wonderful. I know others would have liked it to happen already, but all these books happen over such a short period of time that the perceived slow dawning is fitting and right.

I normally real King and Koontz, so this was a different direction for me. I worried it was too wholesome at one point, then realized how cynical I was being and enjoyed every second thereafter. Great, full characters with tangible pasts and hopes.

Historia
Practical, unassuming Jane Shoringfield has done the calculations and decided that the most secure path forward is this: a husband, in a marriage of convenience, who will allow her to remain independent and occupied with meaningful work. Her first choice, the dashing but reclusive Doctor Augustine Lawrence, agrees to her proposal with only one condition: that she must never visit Lindridge Hall, his crumbling family manor outside of town. Yet on their wedding night, an accident strands her at his door in a pitch-black rainstorm, and she finds him changed.

Very origional, finally
Revisado: 10-15-21
Finally something original to sink my teeth into. I liked all the background story of the post-war world, but I would have liked to have maybe seen more of it. That and the multi layered ending are the only reason I took off a star. It was original, but took me a while to fully understand what she was experiencing... and I may or may not still have some questions...
