Beautifully Written - will stick with you ...
Revisado: 08-25-21
As I said above, this is a beautifully written story -- the characters feel so real. Most you want to root for, but one you just want to pull into a back alley and beat the crap out of. Naturally, he was written that way, but still ... The story slowly builds to a twist that many won't see coming. This book had all the feels and will stick with me for a while.
The narration is top-notch as well --
All in all, well worth the time to listen to.

Better than the last couple
Revisado: 08-11-21
Stephen Taylor is obviously warming to his character as this book is by far the best of them at this point. The action is fairly non-stop -- giving the reader/listener just a moment or two to catch their breath and then, boom - back into it.
The narrator can't do an american accent to save his life, but it adds a little unintended humor to the book. Otherwise, the narration is great -- I can't think of Danny Pearson without hearing "Scotty-boy" in my mind ...
Well worth the time . . .

Revisado: 05-05-21
This story takes place a few years after Vodka & Jellied Eels -- and it really ups the ante for Danny and MI6 . . .
I won't give away anything, but just to warn you, the gore factor is high in this one.
One little thing that I also need to mention, while Lee Beddow's UK accents are very good, and he really helps bring the story to life, his NY accents are ... not quite up to par. They don't detract from the overall story, but they are hilarious, when you consider he's trying to talk like a NY cop. Other than that, his narration is awesome.
Well worth your time to listen to this one --

A Thrill a Minute
Revisado: 03-23-21
I usually listen to audio books at 1.25 speed as I find I enjoy the books better -- but with this one I had to slow it down . . . Nothing against the narrator, but his accent was pretty thick. Even with that, I didn't consider it a bad thing as it enhanced the experience of the book.
Now on to the book itself -- holy crap -- started off with a pretty intense scene and never really slowed down. Even the parts where you could catch your breath were filled with tension -- you never knew what was going to happen next. And talk about a badass main character ...
Enough said about that -- read it, listen to it, enjoy it -- This is the beginning of a great series!

Very intriguing book!
Revisado: 11-19-19
This one started so well - I really wanted to know what happened to Yfrie . . . then, with Jax and their meeting -- and how Jax is the answer to a prophecy . . . well, I was pretty hooked. Then . . . things sped up.
The beginning third of the book was so well done -- the interactions with the characters was lively and real -- like Jax and her brother were real people -- the descriptions were particularly good -- I felt I was actually in the world. . . .
By the second third of the book, things seemed to get rushed -- things happened and the characters went "oh well" and went on in various new directions . . . the last third of the book seemed even more rushed -- I would have loved a little more time to absorb what was going on and why. And then it ended -- on almost a cliffhanger . . .
This isn't to say I didn't enjoy the book -- I did. I love the subtle (and sometimes not-so-subtle) humor the author puts in all of her writing -- this book was no exception . . .
The performance portion overall was pretty good -- there wasn't much of a vocal difference between the characters, so I really had to concentrate to know who was saying what.
Overall - I feel this has set us up for a sequel -- one that I will be happy to read/listen to . . .

Intriguing storyline
Revisado: 10-02-19
I have to preface this by saying I'm not a reader/listener of "Christian" books at all -- I was unaware that this was in those categories when I downloaded it -- in listening this fact became glaringly obvious and it pulled me out of the story. Once I double checked the actual categories this book was in, I realized the issue was mine and not the authors LOL. That being said, I'll make sure that doesn't color my review --
The story does start with a mystery that pulls you into the narrative. I was fascinated by the world the author created. She definitely knows how to build suspense. Aside from the above, the characters were well realized and the narration was spot on -- each character had their own characteristics and it was easy to tell the difference between them when listening.
The author has such an easy writing style that you can't help but feel for her characters -- a few phrases seemed overused (" ... are you kidding me right now?") and some of the dialog was stiff, but overall, I found myself really getting into the books. If I have one gripe, it was that our heroine, Audrey, is kind of thick and bull-headed. In many situations, even after being told one thing as absolute truth, she's believing the opposite, no matter what the evidence shows. That bugged me, but that annoying trait did play into the overall story. She's brought to a certain realization AFTER numerous times of this happening. And I have to admit, there were certain points of each of the books where the author hit me hard in the feels. Don't know if I'm just getting mushy as I age ...
Now -- I really did like the books -- I found the fantasy elements very enticing, despite the religious aspects. And the characters were endearing in their own ways. I hope she writes more in this world as her vision of the "afterlife" is quite entertaining . . .

A good, enjoyable take on the mermaid tale
Revisado: 05-14-18
First off, I actually enjoyed this book. The author sucked me in with the interactions between Coral and her new found friends on the island. The characters were all easily identifiable and "real". There was a good camaraderie between the four shipwrecked men that isn't always easy to pull off.
My only issue was with the performance. The narrator's voice had a very innocent quality to it, which suited Coral fine, but not the male characters. Not a deal breaker, but I wasn't sure if this was supposed to be a young adult book, romance or whatever (well, until it came to the actual explicit scene, which was told from Coral's point of view, and wasn't crude at all).
Overall, a very quick listen -- even at 6 hours. At the end, I was almost disappointed we didn't find out what happened to Gio, but I supposed SOMETHING needs to be left for the next book.
A good job and I recommend it to anyone who likes a good fantasy.

A great adventure like the serials of old
Revisado: 01-27-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Alien Jungle to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print version -- I've only listened to the audio.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Alien Jungle?
There are some very memorable moments -- thanks to the vivid descriptions by the author.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The book did make me laugh in places and the ending was surprisingly emotional.
Any additional comments?
I heartily recommend this book to anyone who likes adventures -- it really reminded me of the old Buck Rodgers serials from way back.
