Historia
High-powered businesswoman Lana Rubicon has a lot to be proud of: her keen intelligence, impeccable taste, and the L.A. real estate empire she’s built. But when she finds herself trapped 300 miles north of the city, convalescing in a sleepy coastal town with her adult daughter Beth and teenage granddaughter Jack, Lana is stuck counting otters instead of square footage—and hoping that boredom won’t kill her before the cancer does.

Historia
Who hasn’t wondered for a split second what the world would be like if a person who is the object of your affliction ceased to exist? But then you’ve probably never heard of The McMasters Conservatory, dedicated to the consummate execution of the homicidal arts. To gain admission, a student must have an ethical reason for erasing someone who deeply deserves a fate no worse (nor better) than death. The campus of this “Poison Ivy League” college—its location unknown to even those who study there—is where you might find yourself the practice target of a classmate.

Very Detailed (a bit tedious)
Revisado: 08-29-23
I found myself having to go back again and again to keep track of characters and story lines. I was engaged but also found myself wishing I could more clearly understand the words at higher speeds.

Historia
Molly Gray is not like everyone else. She struggles with social skills and misreads the intentions of others. Her gran used to interpret the world for her, codifying it into simple rules that Molly could live by. Since Gran died a few months ago, twenty-five-year-old Molly has been navigating life’s complexities all by herself. No matter—she throws herself with gusto into her work as a hotel maid. Her unique character, along with her obsessive love of cleaning and proper etiquette, make her an ideal fit for the job.

Depressing and Ableist also.,, engaging
Revisado: 08-15-23
This book was hard for me to like. I was really engaged but all the reviews I had seen had described this book as light hearted when in reality it’s a story of how a neurodivergent young adult is tricked and manipulated by people around her and it’s heart breaking.

Historia
Authors June Hayward and Athena Liu were supposed to be twin rising stars: same year at Yale, same debut year in publishing. But Athena’s a cross-genre literary darling, and June didn’t even get a paperback release. Nobody wants stories about basic white girls, June thinks. So when June witnesses Athena’s death in a freak accident, she acts on impulse: she steals Athena’s just-finished masterpiece, an experimental novel about the unsung contributions of Chinese laborers to the British and French war efforts during World War I.

Wow! Not what I expected but great!
Revisado: 07-31-23
This book was different than I expected but so engaging. The first 2/3 of the book move forward quickly but without BIG action scenes- but it’s not boring at all! It was lightly disturbing to read in the way I think the author wanted. So good!

Even though the story is disturbing (which is not normally my cup of tea) I was interested in each moment of the book.

Main a character is Insufferable
Revisado: 06-26-23
I pushed through this book just to have it done. It wasn’t the worst book but I think it IS my least favorite main character in recent memory.
