Misogynistic drivel
Revisado: 01-18-22
I listened to part of this out of pure, morbid curiosity. If you are happy, positive, biddable and smile while validating the man’s every behavior without disagreeing you too can catch a man. This is a primer for an abusive relationship. He actually literally says to never complain.

Good - it lags a bit but strong ending
Revisado: 02-25-15
Any additional comments?
There was a huge lag in the middle of the book. HUGE LAG. That section could have been cut back considerably to make the story stronger. That being said, the end was really good and overall it was entertaining.

SO Many Problems, but still glad I finished
Revisado: 07-16-14
What did you like best about Fallen Too Far? What did you like least?
The story had a lot of problems. Blair was written as a total Pollyana character. She was the traditional American depiction of a "good girl" and I don't know if the author did that so it would be considered acceptable that she wanted to have sex or if it was just to draw big red arrows to really show the reader(listener) that you need to have sympathetic feels for her. I just can't believe, even young as she is, that a girl so practical and down to Earth would be interested in Rush after the way he treated her and how horrifically he treated all the women he encountered in the book. SPOILER: It really isn't believable that the (sarcastic voice here) love of a good girl would turn him around. Even after he fell in love with Blair he still treated other girls terribly.
This being said, I am happy that I listened all the way through. I was shocked and totally caught off guard by the ending - in a good way.
Would you recommend Fallen Too Far to your friends? Why or why not?
If you can stomach the beginning with the bad boy and the good girl who couldn't help falling for him even though he treats all women terribly, yes.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
The narration was ok. Sometimes she lost the tone of the characters and I had no idea who was speaking until the context of the sentence clued me in.
What would have made this romance irresistible?
Rush not being a total jerk to all women.

Historia
Being popular in the college music scene doesn’t solve all your problems; at least that’s what the hot musicians of indie band Luminescent Juliet discover. In this compelling novel, trouble begins when 18-year-old Riley, trying to regain her rhythm after throwing away her percussion scholarship to a top school, wins an audition to become the band’s new drummer. This sets her on a collision course with Romeo, the band’s sexy dark-haired guitarist, whose ambitions do not include performing with a girl.

Unbelievably awful story
Revisado: 05-27-14
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A better story!
Would you ever listen to anything by Barbara Longley again?
I seriously doubt it.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
The relationship between CJ and Noah is probably the most dysfunctional and poorly written I have ever read. From the beginning Noah tried to manipulate CJ and "handle" her by passive aggressively forcing her into doing what he wanted without regard to her thoughts and feelings. I was hoping that this would be satire! The way everyone dismissed CJ's role and rights as a mother and pushed her for access to her daughter was appalling. And the fact that CJ got "upset" but just let everyone handle her...I just can't even review it coherently. I couldn't even make it to the end of the book. I have never turned off an audiobook because I was so mad at the story - but I did with this book. If CJ ended up with Noah after he tried to handle and mansplain how to raise her daughter and what was best for them I think I would have screamed. I am now mad all over again after typing out the review.
Any additional comments?
I wish there was a way I could get my time back. This book should be required reading for all high school girls so they know what red-flag behavior to look for in men before they get into serious relationships. Is he like Noah? RUN.

Really liked the story
Revisado: 05-16-14
If you could sum up The Winner's Curse in three words, what would they be?
Interesting, compelling, new
What did you like best about this story?
I like the strong heroine. The plot is a change from a lot of the current YA but is still fast-paced and compelling. Very enjoyable and I can't wait for the next one.
Which character – as performed by Justine Eyre – was your favorite?
Justin Eyre is a great narrator and when looking for new books, if I am unsure whether to try it or not, I will definitely pick it up if I see her narrating.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes.

Disappointing!
Revisado: 11-01-13
What was most disappointing about Veronica Roth’s story?
This series showed such promise! For what could have been a profound and thought-provoking trilogy, the final book (in my opinion) ended on a pat and somewhat cheap note. I understand why Ms. Roth chose the path she did, but she could have made the point in a better way. I completely tuned out after the big event in the book and honestly didn't really care about what happened in the rest of the story.

Another great dystopian series!
Revisado: 09-17-13
What made the experience of listening to The Testing the most enjoyable?
This was a very engaging story and I can't wait to read the rest in the series. There were some similarities between this and the Hunger Games, but the story stands on its own. Some of the twists I didn't see coming and the characters were interesting. The narrator was good and didn't detract from the story.
Have you listened to any of Elizabeth Morton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I haven't listened to her before. She is one of the better narrators. My only complaint is that she pronounces the "o" in opossum. Most people just day "possum". It was a little jarring every time she did it.

He was tall, at least six feet, with dirty blond hair that hung over his eyes. His T-shirt read Nietzsche Is My Homeboy. So, that was Matt. Who Julie Seagles likes. A lot. But there is also Finn. Who she flat out loves. Complicated? Awkward? Completely. But really, how was this freshly-minted Boston transplant and newbie college freshman supposed to know that she would end up living with the family of an old friend of her mother’s? This was all supposed to be temporary.

Love Love LOVE!!!
Revisado: 02-25-13
Where does Flat-Out Love rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This has got to be one of my favorite audiobooks. The story was good, engaging, romantic, dramatic, and sweet. The narrator's performance was incredible. I listen to 30 audiobooks a year, her narration was incredible.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I might not have cried, but I definitely choked up and gasped. The story and performance was very emotional and it really came through.
Any additional comments?
This was fantastic! I will definitely get more from this author and look for this narrator again. Excellent.
