Historia
Returning from an extended leave, Detective Tracy Crosswhite finds herself reassigned to the Seattle PD’s cold case unit. As the protective mother of an infant daughter, Tracy is immediately drawn to her first file: the abduction of a five-year-old girl whose parents, embattled in a poisonous divorce, were once prime suspects. While reconstructing the days leading up to the girl’s disappearance, Tracy is brought into an active investigation with former partner Kinsington Rowe. A young woman has vanished on an isolated jogging trail in North Seattle.

In Her Tracks
Revisado: 05-06-21
Robert Dugoni has rapidly become one of my favorite writers and Tracy Crosswhite is one of my favorite characters. In this thriller, Tracy has been assigned to cold cases following her recovery and her return from maternity leave. She is trying to solve the disappearance of a young girl who disappeared while going through a corn maze with her father.
Of course, Dugoni is excellent with the police jargon and the descriptions of the environment, but the story line remains believable and interesting. While you will hold your breath wondering what happened to the little girl, the ending will surprise you.
Enjoy the book. I like to get professional narration. It enhances the experience in my opinion.

The Ragged Edge of Night
Revisado: 10-09-20
I enjoyed this book. It was a story of love and the struggles of a family during the Second World War. The main character is a friar who lost his charge and all of the children to the Nazis. The former friar decided to marry a widow who had three children. He also decided to join the Nazi resistance. That decision caused extreme conflict between him and his new wife, who accused him of not only endangering him, but also the entire family.
The book ends with the death of Hitler and the decrease of the danger to the friar and his family.

Historia
"Oliver Twist" (1839) by Charles Dickens is a novel about an orphan boy, who starts his life in a workhouse and is then sold into apprenticeship with an undertaker. He escapes and travels to London, where he meets the Artful Dodger, a member of a gang of juvenile pickpockets led by the elderly criminal, Fagin. Oliver Twist is notable for its unromantic portrayal by Dickens of criminals and their sordid lives, as well as for exposing the cruel treatment of the many orphans in London in the mid-19th century.

Oliver Twist
Revisado: 09-07-20
I have wanted to read this book since college more than 30 years ago. This book is Classic Dickens. It follows the life and trials of an orphan English lad. Dickens is very descriptive in all of the situations that poor Oliver encounters from being chosen to ask for additional food while in a home for orphan boys to the challenges that he faced while walking many, many miles while escaping the home for orphans on his way to London, While in London he fell among thieves and was actually shot while attempting a robbery along with other seasoned burglars. In the End, Oliver was taken in by some very fine people who were able to assist the authorities in capturing the band of thieves and breaking up their rein of terror. This is a very good book and I highly recommend reading it with professional narration.

Emma Bovary, daughter of an uneducated farmer and wife of a dull doctor in northern France, harbors a passion for everything beyond her grasp - sophistication, romance, love, and deliverance from her banal provincial life. Motivated by the primal, idealized, and vain, she seeks adventure. And with each new endeavor, Emma sets for herself an inevitable and inescapable trap.

Madame Bovary's Tragic Life
Revisado: 07-11-20
I have wanted to read this novel or some time. First of all, I enjoyed the story, the language and the overall descriptions contemporary with the times. This novel reminded me of The Awakening because of Madame Bovary's lack of love for her husband and seeking prohibited love from other men. She eventually causes her and her family to become bankrupt due to her spending habits. She had done the spending without the knowledge of her husband. When she was unable to pay er debts she called upon her so-called friends and lovers to no avail. Feeling that she had no other options, she poisoned herself and died. The irony of the story is that the same husband that she did not love and schemed behind his back with other men, grieved himself to death because of his love for her. I recommend this book. It is a very interesting read and like prostitution, the tragedy of Madame Bovary still endures to this very day. WM SC

The Missing Sister
Revisado: 07-07-20
This is a well written book about a west coast girl going to France to find her missing sister. Throughout the entire book, it was easy to follow the plot, but there were so many characters and several possible suspects that it was not easy to determine if her sister was living or dead. I will not spoil it for your, but the actual perpetrator and the fate of the sister was held in excellent suspense until the final chapter. I fully recommend this book. I will be looking to read more from this author. WLM South Carolina

Life Beyond Measure
Revisado: 05-28-20
This is an excellent concept carried by a premier actor, person and family man. This whole novel is comprised of letters written by Sidney Poitier to his actual great granddaughter Ayele who he met at two days old. The book is filled with his life lessons that are shared with her and the reader. They are lessons at all levels and for many of life's situations. It is well written and I truly recommend getting the audio book version like Audible, etc., because Mr. Poitier does the narration.
I highly recommend this book.
