Didn’t expect to get emotional…

Ok, so I’ve read through the series several times, and I’ve come to love the characters. Yet, when this final installment came out I did not anticipate the poetry in payoffs and depth of achievement they would reach in the closing chapters. Defiant has a message in itself, but also completes the journey of the entire epic with all the fanfare, bells and wishes a sci-fi lover could ever dream of.

I stumbled upon this book, and at first, I just thought the title was unique… but quickly found myself completely enthralled by a story so visual, I literally was unable to put it down.
The characters are strikingly different causing unpredictable twists and turns. The world of the haunted manor they built, with its interesting rules, create bizarre and creepy situations, but overall, I think the premise of this story is what makes it really cool. I felt like I was reading a horror franchise from the vantage point of those who are already dead. “The Dead Friends Society” turns the slasher horror genre into an unexpected horror fantasy epic. This book is a gem and totally worth the read.
