Good topic, kind of sappy
Revisado: 08-21-24
It was narrated like a work training video. it made the story tedious. And then tried to end with a cliffhanger. I won't be getting the sequel.

Tedious
Revisado: 05-16-24
This story was not what I would have expected from Georgette Heyer.b It seemed to be more about Wellington at Waterloo than Bab Childe
She went on and on about this troop or division interspersed with untranslated French. it was all I could do to start awake.

i couldn't listen to it twice
Revisado: 02-24-24
The story was ok but I really couldn't stand the narrator. I almost didn't finish it. I usually like to listen to a story at least twice. Sometimes I pick up things I missed first time around. Ok this book I couldn't get through the first few sentences again without cringing.

What's wrong with sitting with you friends?
Revisado: 10-24-23
As a person of color I went to a large high school with two cafeterias. The West Cafe was where mostly white kids ate and in the East Cafe the black, brown, mixed, Hispanic and whites who had friends of color ate. I had friends in both and freely moved between them. There wasn't some rule. We just hung with our friends.
The author also doesn't seem to consider cultural differences and different values. She seems to think everyone wants the "American dream" of college, bank accounts, credit, cars and all the trains of the dominant society. Lots of us don't.
It's ok to be with people you like. It's ok to have dreams that are different. It's ok to have a job that pays the rent and the food and leaves enough leisure time to go shoot pool on the weekend. It's ok for black kids to sit together. The only thing but ok is to hate another person because of who they are or what they look like or believe. Leave the kids alone.

Good story, narration not so much

I like Robin Cook but this narrator has to take a breath every third word making it very annoying to listen to.

Pretty good story
Revisado: 11-22-21
The tale was entertaining but unbelievable at times. Considering the fact it was about a mountain man, I suppose the exaggeration is to be expected.
I didn't care for the narrator. He mashed some words together and mispronounced others. That made the story annoying to listen to.

Historia
Rice Moore is just beginning to think his troubles are behind him. He’s found a job protecting a remote forest preserve in Virginian Appalachia where his main responsibilities include tracking wildlife and refurbishing cabins. It’s hard work, and totally solitary - perfect to hide away from the Mexican drug cartels he betrayed back in Arizona. But when Rice finds the carcass of a bear killed on the grounds, the quiet solitude he’s so desperately sought is suddenly at risk.

It was an ok book. There were no surprises. And what was that weirdness about losing his mind/memory in the forest? That was just a waste of words.

I almost turned it off several times. The mispromunciations of the narrator drove me crazy. It took forever to develop the story. If this is typical of the offerings in the Romance Package I'll not download anymore. This book wad truly a waste of time.
