Historia
If you’re struggling to stay on top of your to-do list, you probably have a good reason: anxiety, fatigue, depression, ADHD, or lack of support. For therapist KC Davis, the birth of her second child triggered a stress-mess cycle. The more behind she felt, the less motivated she was to start. She didn’t fold a single piece of laundry for seven months. One life-changing realization restored her sanity—and the functionality of her home: You don’t work for your home; your home works for you.

Reads Anti-Vegan, Anti-Environment
Revisado: 12-15-22
For the most part, I found Davis' take on house cleaning to be really helpful. I'm excited to put many of her tips and tricks in play. As someone who struggles with focus and task initiation, I think this book is great. You don't need a diagnosis of ASD, ADHD, PTSD, depression, anxiety, etc. to get something from this read.
Now- onto the weaknesses... I understand that Davis is a licensed therapist, so her first priority is to put her clients needs above all else. I have trouble accepting her suggestions to give myself a break on my ideologies that surround environmental conservation and veganism if I'm having a rough time.... IMO I think she was confusing "plant-based" with "veganism" as many people do these days.... Plant-based is a diet, veganism is an ideology. More than once she mentions that if I need to eat meat bc its the easier than eating vegan today - I should eat meat... So, as a vegan, to me this reads "if it's easier for you to kill an animal today bc it's too hard to pursue your usual alternative, then kill the animal." (sidenote: I've met many vegans, myself included, whose depression has NEVER hindered their ability to stick to their belief system through periods of depression... its too easy to be vegan these days in MOST instances in a "first world" if you have access to a grocery store... people lacking certain privileges are a different story).
There's an element of self preservation in this book that I'm uncomfortable with, because I think we are already struggling with this on a global scale.... my concern is that while Davis' intentions are for people to care for themselves first before they are able to care for others, which I completely agree with- she is also encouraging people to sacrifice belief systems that may very much be a core element to their personal identity and way of being in the world. IMO it read at times as though Davis has been shamed for not being vegan, for not being pro-environment. and now she has an opinion that all people in those categories are "extreme" and therefore worthy of dismissal.
speaking for myself, even on my worst days- my environmentalism and veganism are things I do so often that sometimes is the only small thing I'm able to do that day. Davis mentions these sorts of things don't make significant global impacts (I disagree), but they have value for ME in my daily life. So if I'm feeling like garbage today and choose vegan or to use real silverware that day instead of plastic, me doing those 2 small acts gives me a sense of accomplishment that I may not otherwise be able to find that day. those things ARE acts of kindness to myself and others.
overall a good book, but I do take issue with some of her points as mentioned above.

a much-needed resource!

I don't work with the paranormal, but I have encountered my fair share of spirits over my lifetime. I wish that I had a resource like this YEARS ago, because it really offers valuable insights, validations, tips, and strategies to working with spirits. This is a great handbook for anyone interested in pursuing paranormal investigation as a career path, but it is also worthy for those who just want to have a clearer understanding of some of the spooky goings on they might encounter or are currently managing.

I'm a longtime fan of the show- J and Britton bring their combined knowledge about folk practices to the table to share with listeners. Awesome guest interviews too. A great resource for those newer to the craft or seasoned practitioners.
