great mystery/action thriller
Revisado: 10-31-22
Craig Schaefer is one of my favorite authors, and I am really enjoying this series. The characters, including the villains, are realistic and believable. The heroes are all likeable. The action is nonstop. A very enjoyable read.

Historia
Dr Jekyll, a charming doctor explores the possibility of dividing the dark and light side of her personality, but in doing this she creates a monster, Eleanor Hyde. For many years she manages to live under the radar, keeping her dark secret unknown to those around her. However, gradually her evil side gains strength until Dr Jekyll is overwhelmed by Eleanor Hyde, to disastrous consequences. An exploration of human duality and forces of good and evil, this modern retelling is compelling and eerie and retains the disturbing nature of the original text.

Disappointed
Revisado: 02-04-21
I was very disappointed in the story itself.
The blurb said "An exploration of human duality and forces of good and evil, this modern retelling is compelling and eerie and retains the disturbing nature of the original text." However, there was no exploration of human duality, which I was really looking forward to. I thought we would get inside Henrietta's head, to learn about this struggle. Instead, the story is told from a third person, a friend of Henrietta's. So while it was a little bit of a horror story, but not really, it definitely did not live up to the blurb. A major disappointment.
However, the narration is good.

Historia
A small change today can change our tomorrow. A small change 100 million years ago can change everything. No one really noticed when things started to change. Some animals vanished. Some new ones appeared. Then some things appeared that were monstrous. No one seemed to notice except Ben Cartwright and the other survivors of hidden plateau in the depths of the Amazon jungle. Only they were aware of the growing threat to the human race.

Disappointing ending to the trilogy
Revisado: 07-28-20
I have enjoyed the Primordia series, and the narration is good. I was just disappointed in how the trilogy wrapped up. Ben and crew were annoying. I would have loved to travel further with Andy and his little buddy.

Historia
Emily Baxter feared she was the sole survivor of a deadly alien plague that swept through New York City, the nation, and the world in a downpour of blood red rain. And when the dead began transforming into a terrifying new form of life, she feared her survival might be brutally short-lived. Then, a human voice crackled from a satellite phone, urging her to flee north, where more refugees of the global annihilation hunkered down in a desolate Alaskan outpost. Now, with only the supplies she can carry and her faithful dog, Emily races across the country.

Pretty good end of the world novel
Revisado: 05-04-18
This novel was pretty good. The plot has me intrigued, but just like the first one in the series, there is too much unnecessary time spent inside the main character's head. And she is still unrealistic ally stupid about things. But the plot has me interested enough to read the third installment.

Historia
Emily Baxter’s dream life turns into a waking nightmare the day the red rain falls. Like a biblical plague, the scarlet downpour spreads a hideous virus that demolishes life in New York City, the nation, and the world. Suddenly the last soul in an annihilated metropolis - and possibly on Earth - the onetime newspaper reporter must learn to scavenge, survive...and plan for a future of utter solitude. Then, from far-flung Alaska, another living voice reaches out, and Emily grasps at her only glimmer of hope. But she may be even less alone than she thinks.

Good plot, too much exposition
Revisado: 04-22-18
The plot is intriguing and made me want to continue, in spite of the fact that there were many times I couldn't stand the whiny protagonist. There is also way too much time spent in her head. If I had been reading instead of listening, I would have skipped over all that naval gazing she does. This would be a 5 star novel if the author or his editor had pruned all that. That said, the plot has snagged me and I'm going on to the second novel in this series.

Historia
The charm of spending the Christmas holidays in South Wales, with its crumbling castles and ancient myths, seems the perfect distraction from the nightmares that have plagued literary agent Lyn Ravenshaw since the loss of her baby five years ago. Instead she meets an emotionally fragile young widow who's convinced that Lyn's recurring dreams have drawn her to Castle Farm for an important purpose - and she's running out of time.
