Historia
If Avery Chambers can’t fix you in 10 sessions, she won’t take you on as a client. Her successes are phenomenal—she helps people overcome everything from domineering parents to assault—and almost absorbs the emptiness she sometimes feels since her husband’s death. Marissa and Mathew Bishop seem like the golden couple—until Marissa cheats. She wants to repair things, both because she loves her husband and for the sake of their eight-year-old son. After a friend forwards an article about Avery, Marissa takes a chance on this maverick therapist.

Great mystery, great narration
Revisado: 09-29-23
Audible recommended this book, so I gave it a try. I like mysteries, but so many are just mediocre. This one was great - kept me thinking about the twists and turns and trying to figure out what was happening. Also, great narration from the two narrators, something I like because it keeps the characters straight in my mind.

Absolutely loved this book! Just charming, well written, made me look back at my own life choices in another light. I would read this book a second time, which I only do for my very favorite books. Enjoy!

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Beautiful, moving, story
Revisado: 09-13-23
I just finished listening to this book for the second time, as I finally talked my book club into reading it. I was even more moved this time than the first. I found it more difficult to read in 2023 than in 2015, because our world is such chaos and with so much division between so many. It is almost unfathomable what happened in WWII. Read this to understand and remember, read it in honor of the brave people who fought back, read it in honor of those who needlessly died, especially the more than six million Jews who were brutally and cruelly murdered.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

historical, compelling, rewarding
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Kitchen House?
The climax of the story near the end of the book

I loved the dialects used by the readers, especially how the reader of Lavinia changed over time.
If you could rename The Kitchen House, what would you call it?
Thank God for the end of slavery and oppression of women
Any additional comments?
