Kind of miss the line from the show, but the content of this reboot/spin off I’m not really sure what to call this has been entertaining. So glad to have found this!

For every AAPI who needed a hero growing up
Revisado: 02-09-24
As a third generation Asian American geriatric millennial, this was just the book I needed to read. I’ve seldom felt more seen in reading the memoir of a peer. This book was everything. Representation matters, for children and adults, for all of us.

Historia
Welcome to the summer of 1985 in Philadelphia, when the city was rocked—in almost every sense of the word—by two unprecedented events: Mayor W. Wilson Goode’s May 13 decision to bomb the headquarters of MOVE, a controversial Philadelphia-based radical communal organization, and the July 13 Live Aid concert, where international rock royalty convened in Philly to raise money for victims of the Ethiopian famine. Separated by just two months and eight miles, these events would showcase both the best and the worst of the so-called City of Brotherly Love.

Phenomenon storytelling
Revisado: 02-09-23
I wasn’t around in the summer of 85. Prior to listening, I didn’t know to associate anything other than Queen with Live Aid. I’d heard of the MOVE bombing, but through the lens of White washed history. I’m glad to have listened to this powerful counternarrative.

Terribly uninspired plot.
Revisado: 12-28-17
Trite is an understatement. I do not recommend this book. The story line is terribly predictable. The characters are not fully formed and the performance is mediocre at best.
