Historia
Throughout human history, certain drinks have done much more than just quench thirst. As Tom Standage relates with authority and charm, six of them have had a surprisingly pervasive influence on the course of history, becoming the defining drink during a pivotal historical period. A History of the World in 6 Glasses tells the story of humanity from the Stone Age to the 21st century through the lens of beer, wine, spirits, coffee, tea, and cola.

Revisado: 09-24-12
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
As I say, would have been a great article in Vanity Fair

The premise and outline was fascinating
Which character – as performed by Sean Runnette – was your favorite?
You mean which beverage? LOL
If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Any additional comments?
Was too long for the depth of the material, but a great premise, well written.

Very compelling story, characters, with redeeming
Revisado: 09-10-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. Sexy, romantic, socially aware, a parable for any age.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Both Charles and Tristan. Who wouldn't love them, or have compassion for them?
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
A little self-conscious about its research, but who cares. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes, several.
Any additional comments?
I'd like to know or BE the main characters. lol

Historia
Poet and prodigy Arthur Rimbaud led a life that was startlingly short, but just as dramatically eventful and accomplished. Even today, over a century after his death in 1891, his visionary poetry has continued to influence everyone from Jim Morrison and Bob Dylan to Patti Smith. His long poem A Season in Hell (1873) and his collection Illuminations (1886) are essential to the modern canon, marked by a hallucinatory and hypnotic style that defined the Symbolist movement in poetry.

Superficial, no clarity of point of view
Revisado: 09-10-12
What did you like best about Rimbaud? What did you like least?
Although the complexities of these two artists' work and relationship are compelling, this writer lacks any deep dramatic, psychological, social, or storytelling thrust.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
A more energetic and focussed narfrative.
Would you be willing to try another one of Dave Giorgio’s performances?
Okay
Could you see Rimbaud being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Not as written, and it was, with Leonardo di Caprio.
Any additional comments?
White is not my favorite author, evidently. lol
