Seriously overrated

I love humorous jaunty audiobooks, but this was not one of them. It sounded like a group of friends goofing off. Forcing in as many famous voices as possible without actually needing them for the story. It could work as an improv podcast, maybe, because flaws in story are acceptable with improv and the podcast format would break it up more naturally. As a “book”, it’s very clear that the story is poorly written, and breaking it into vignettes feels like lazy plotting. I do not recommend this book.

one of Stephenson earliest books and his style was not as well developed. Uses a somewhat contrived situation near the end to draw in many of the plot points.
