Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

An Unforgettable Read
Revisado: 01-25-23
Spare came out on my birthday, so I picked it as a gift for myself. I’m so glad I did. The narration is elegant and the storytelling is first rate. Never a dull moment. Princess Diana was the real life Cinderella of my youth, and then the inspiration of my young adult years, and I’ve watched with the world as her boys grew up. Good for Prince Harry to share his story with purpose and find a measure of peace. Hopefully, much much more freedom and joy will come to Harry and his family.

Historia
Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Bradley P. Jones, in his wildest dreams, never thought he would make a career out of the military. Like many, he joined for the college tuition assistance. He was determined to serve out his first and only enlistment, and then move on to bigger and better. He managed to leave the military—called a break in service—for four years, but the military never left his thoughts or his system.

Impressively approachable and realistically patriotic
Revisado: 08-03-22
The author has a pleasant reading voice (I listened at 1.5 speed). This title has an impressive narrative style and compelling triggers to keep the reader looking forward to the next page. From the grueling growth of boot camp and a myriad of military experiences to poignant personal moments, Jones truly takes the reader on his journey. While illustrating the difficulties and problems in American with honesty, he weaves an undeniable thread of positive, a-political patriotism, gratitude and hope. It’s a great read for anyone interested in the last 4 decades of technology development, military life, navigating the challenges of work-life balance or looking for an uplifting read.

Historia
Of all the Emperor’s sons who fell to Chaos, it is perhaps Magnus the Red whose tale is the most tragic. Sanctioned because of his desire for knowledge, chastised, judged, and shattered to his very elements – there is much for the Crimson King to feel vengeful for. Yet revenge is not the only thing that draws him to Terra alongside the Warmaster’s besieging armies. He seeks something, a fragment, the missing piece of himself that lies within the most impregnable place on the planet – the inner sanctum of the Imperial Palace.

Very good
Revisado: 01-29-21
This book tore my heart in so many ways. The writing and narration were spectacular. Riveting detail and flowing prose. Every tragedy of magnus’ fall was magnified. There is a pair of scenes that show the emperor and magnus in parallel, while the climax of the book highlights a key difference. The simple callousness of the emperor proving, yet again, to be his downfall. What a ride, and what a story

Almost 5 stars (well worth the read)
Revisado: 01-06-18
Gripping, disturbing read. The characters are complex, the world fascinating, and the themes raise the questions of what it is to be human. The violence of the world and story are well handled and not gratuitous but it keeps me from giving the book 5 stars. The writing is strong.

Historia
RITA Award finalist and Christy Award winner Julie Klassen delivers historical romances brimming with the eloquence and intensity of Jane Austen. In an abandoned gatehouse on an old estate, Mariah Aubrey lives in seclusion. She supports herself by writing novels in secret—at a time when such writing is considered improper and unladylike. Soon the wealthy and ambitious Captain Bryant leases the estate and is intrigued by the beautiful girl in the gatehouse.

Good fun. Delightful Regency.
Revisado: 03-09-15
A good light read. The drama over the girl in the gate house and her history dragged on a bit. However, overall a good story with a satisfactory resolution.
