Revisado: 04-25-25
The book moved at a nice pace. The world building was good. We learned new things every time she went through something. I can’t wait to read the next book.

Historia
Lily isn’t exactly thrilled with her arrival in the Afterlife, but what awaits her there is more fantastical than she ever could have imagined: Deities wait in line at the coffee shop. Fae flit between realms. Souls find ways to make death a beginning. As she explores the many corners of the Afterlife, Lily finds herself surprisingly drawn to a place most people would avoid at all costs: Hell. Armed with years of customer service experience and pent-up sarcasm, Lily carves a job out for herself amongst Hell’s demons, sending souls to their rightful circles with more than a hint of sass.

I really enjoyed the book. The story developed at the perfect pace. The characters (no strangers) were rich and I found I was quite attached to them and can’t wait for the next book. 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

This book was harder to get into but glad I stuck with it
Revisado: 03-30-24
This book was harder to get into but glad I stuck with it. I can’t really say what it was because I’m old and that was a couple days ago. Maybe I didn’t like the way the story leaned or it drug on, it’s usually one of those two. I had forgotten by the middle of the book.

Historia
Never knowing his parents, eleven-year-old Stewie Little and his brother have been raised on a farm by their older sister. Stewie steadfastly tends the chickens left by his beloved late grandmother. And every day Stewie goes door to door selling fresh eggs from his wagon—a routine with a surprise just around the corner. It’s his new customer, Marilyn. She’s prickly and guarded, yet comfortably familiar—she reminds the grieving Stewie so much of the grandmother he misses more than he can express.

I absolutely loved this book.
Revisado: 08-26-22
The storyline is fresh, which is always a bonus for an avid reader.
I loved Stuart’s way of admitting when he doesn’t understand a word or idea.
Oh, how I wish there were more people like that, myself included.
The positive spin on therapy without spending too much time on it was also refreshing.
Catherine Ryan Hyde is on my page one of authors. I read, or listen, to multiple books a week and have for years. My author list is very long. First page authors means I know it will be a good read.

Historia
Stepping off the train in Sweetwater Springs, Montana, Elizabeth Hamilton is filled with relief, nerves, and the thrill of hope. Life on her dear friend’s ranch will be very different than Gilded Age Boston’s high society. But at least here, Elizabeth is far from her spiteful sister-in-law and the bittersweet memories of her late fiancé.
Nick Sanders has loved Elizabeth since he first glimpsed her portrait - not that he dare admit it. A ranch hand has no call to woo a well-born lady, especially when she’s being courted by the town’s finest gentleman. Yet there’s something in her mix of courage and compassion that won’t let Nick quit.

Part one- so far so good.
Revisado: 06-26-21
I hope it continues along as it has so far. I do hope part two does not drag out who the best guy is for her too long or it could get boring. But part one gets a thumbs up👍🏼

Historia
Librarian Janet Johnson is puzzled when she is invited - and practically dragged - to her first meeting of the Rejected Writers' Book Club. This quirky group of women would much rather celebrate one another's rejected manuscripts over cups of tea and slices of lemon cake than actually publish a book. But good friends are exactly what Janet needs after moving to the small town of Southlea Bay, Washington.

Fun! Quick

It was over before I knew it. It was quick but so was the pace and the wit.
Good book to listen to while cleaning house or working in the yard. It’s light but holds you. You can escape into it a spell.

Frustrating main character
Revisado: 04-16-21
The description attracted my attention. It started slow but I expected it to pick up and get moving. The main character was so frustratingly naive it made me want to pull my hair out. Ugh! I had to force myself to continue and still I could only tolerate a little at a time. I finally gave in and gave up. I wish I could have finished the book as I was interested in the earthquake but I couldn’t keep up my suffering.

Good series
Revisado: 12-18-20
The story is very enjoyable but the narrator is not my favorite. She does the character dialogue well but the story narration rubs my nerves. She does a strange up swing of her voice in some places and often finishes her sentence in a stretched out way. I don’t know how to describe it. It grabs my attention and interrupts the flow of the book sometimes. The farther into the book the more I can ignore. Frustrating...

Good story, narration not so much
Revisado: 12-17-20
If the story weren’t so good the narration would have stopped me from getting far into it. I don’t understand her popularity. She does the characters well but the story narration makes me cringe. Her cadence is awful. She puts strange rises in her voice at places it doesn’t make sense and she ends sentences with a strange drawn out up swing in her voice. Other books she has done I couldn’t get past the first chapter. I admit that after awhile I could listen without cringing but it still took some strength to ignore.
