Historia
Six hundred years ago, the Muir Court was wiped from existence, destroyed by an elite group known as the Black Rose Guard. Their captain, Mara, has a reputation of being a harsh woman who leads with unwavering conviction and fierce formality. During her long years of service, she has known pain, loss, heartache…and one great love. Edward, captain of the Royal Guard, loved her once. However, Princess Liza’s sweet innocence inadvertently stole the heart he had once sworn belonged to Mara alone.

Wonderfully Dark Fantasy Tale
Revisado: 06-17-24
A story of a fae princess who forsakes her birthright to become a code knight of the realm. I was truly taken in by Edward and Mara’s captivating love story, the trials they endure and a villain so perfectly crafted you can’t help but hate her and wish for her to be stabbed right in her stupid face.
Excellent narration of an excellent book.

At some point you are going to have zombies in you zombie book, right?
Revisado: 11-15-22
It’s not bad from a military thriller perspective but it really doesn’t qualify as an apocalyptic novel.
Every group is amazing well armed and supplied, planes, helicopters and Humvees are everywhere.
And there’s not one zombie. There’s the passing mention of them but they have little to nothing yo do with book 2-3.
I’d also add the character of Joshua bugged me to no end. He’s an almost 18 year old thinking of enlisting in the marines, and he sounds, acts, and more importantly is treated like he’s about 12.
Overall, ok, not great

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Wonderfully witty, Great Story
Revisado: 08-31-21
A great story. You have to love Weir style of blending the technical, the scientific, the mundane in such a way that it flows with the story and actually makes sense to a definite NOT science person.
The humor is his classic dry witty, and at time sarcastic style.
The performer does a great job of capturing the very humble, Everyman-esque nature of Ryland Grace. Some of the side characters voices aren’t perfect (its a little hard to tell some of them apart on group scenes), but given how infrequent they are and 90% of the story is between about 3 major characters, this was a great listen.
If you liked The Martian or Artemis, you will really enjoy this

Great story, not a great narrator
Revisado: 09-10-18
One of my favorite Tom Clancy novels. A great story that brings so much of the political intrigue and spy thriller twists you expect from this series.
The narrator was less than stellar. Tonally boring and absolutely terrible character differentiation. Also, if you can’t pull off an Asian or Indian accent, don’t try lest it come off as an unintentional caricature
