Historia
In Volume #1: Ritual Killers we look into the minds of criminals who formed their own justifications for committing the ultimate act of murder. These killers were compelled to repeatedly follow their personal rituals before, during, and after crimes. Many believing they were protected by supernatural forces, some trying to re-live a sick memory, and others were cunning and methodical planners avoiding detection.

What makes people do this?
Revisado: 08-12-24
It is difficult to believe there is one serial killer, let alone multiple killers. The deliberate and detailed planning by these killers is disturbing. Yes, it is hard to read what they did to their victims and that some of the sprees spanned many years.

Amazing retelling of a difficult time in the country's history.
Revisado: 08-10-24
I remember soldiers returning from Nam. The book describes that experience perfectly - it was heart wrenching. Lots of joy and sorrow. It was a difficult read at times, but so good.

Historia
July 3. 1932. Shivering and in shock, Evie Grace Devlin watches the Starlite Palace burn into the sea and wonders how she became a person who would cause a man to kill himself. She’d come to Galveston to escape a dark past in vaudeville and become a good person, a nurse. When that dream is cruelly thwarted, Evie is swept into the alien world of dance marathons. All that she has been denied- a family, a purpose, even love - waits for her there in the place she dreads most: the spotlight.

Surprisingly enjoyable
Revisado: 12-05-22
The only reason I stuck with the book is because I used a credit for it. I am so glad I did. The variety of topics in the book mirror what is going on now - politically in particular (just the names have been changed). I highly recommend the book. The only negative comment concerns the voice of Sophie - I found it grating.

Too confusing
Revisado: 08-29-22
I am not a fan of books that switch time periods and would not have read this book had I known. I had a difficult time keeping track of the characters and the continual references to "3, 6 and 10 years earlier". There was no explanation (or I missed it) of how someone gained access to the building without being noticed.

Interesting story but I heard nothing definitive about her cause of death. It is odd that among other things, no finger prints were taken at the scene.

beautiful telling of the life and time of Ann Lowe, who grew up in Alabama. Her resilience in overcoming so many obstacles is truly inspiring. It is unfortunate that recognition of her exceptional design skills and talents was so long in coming.
