Historia
Raised in a lush suburb of 1920s Paris, Noor Inayat Khan was an introspective musician and writer, dedicated to her family and to her father’s spiritual values of harmony, beauty, and tolerance. She did not seem destined for wartime heroism. Yet, faced with the evils of Nazi violence and the German occupation of France, Noor joined the British Special Operations Executive and trained in espionage, sabotage, and reconnaissance. For crucial months of the war, Noor was the only wireless operator in France sending critical information to London.

True spy story of artistic sensitive young woman
Revisado: 07-22-22
A unlikely WWII heroine who came from Indian royalty, a musically and spiritually gifted family, displaced from the family estate in Surenes, France, by the Nazi invasion. Her family fled to England, where her brother enlisted in the navy, and she joined the Special Operations Executive, and became a spy in France. Her efforts as a clandestine radio operator became essential to the French Resistance and Allied effort, and resulted in posthumous awarding of the Croix de Guerre, the George Cross, and several memorials.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Humorous Sojourn into Adolescence and Apartheid
Revisado: 03-12-19
Going through adolescence is tough enough but what if you throw in a multitude of racial and cultural conflicts and the dissolution of apartheid? What if you tried to fit in, but your skin wast too white for the blacks and too black for the whites ? What if you throw in problems of poverty and growing up with a single, but very strong parent and an alcoholic, abusive stepfather? What if you also had a penchant for getting into mischief, but you were also bright enough to learn 4 languages and start your own business before you finished high school? What if you could tell this story and make people laugh?
I am listening to Trevor Noah read his book on tape while I am on a cultural exchange with Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. While we are beginning to appreciate the issues of multiculturalism in middle America today and the increasing problems of income disparity, these are magnitudes more exaggerated in South Africa today . We can visually see some of this, hoewever Trevor Noah is able to communicate in such an insightful way that I think this book will probably become a classic in addressing what it's like to be a young person growing up with any of these issues.
