Disappointing.

I have enjoyed all of the Elemental Master books. They have all had lovely stories with rich world building and enjoyable plots. But this one really missed the mark. There was lots of opportunity for character growth and a complex solution, but instead the ending was almost an afterthought. Like the author just lost the desire to work on this and slapped an abrupt ending on it just to be done with it and move on.

Sexy, Beautiful, Satisfying

What did you like best about this story?

One of Kim Dare's faults in past books is setting up a couple and then leaving the story to your imagination to finish. In this book she finally sets up a couple and lets the story take the time it takes to tell the story of how their relationship came to be and what that means for each of her main characters. And she doesn't skimp on the background characters either!

Have you listened to any of Chris Clog’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. I ADORED his voice in the other two books he has performed so far. In this story he had a lot to live up to because I had already read the story and had my own idea of how the characters should sound. Clog got it perfectly!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. Unfortunately it was too long. I listened to it over four days and could barely put it down. I'm on my second go around now.

If you like BDSM and hot men who truly love and care for each other, get this book. Love this book. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Good story. Fast reader

The story itself was good. A nice look at how two people in love can deal with the sudden change of circumstances. I love that there were real problems and they were (eventually) dealt with in an adult manner.

The reader talks very fast. He almost sounds sped up. I had to listen to the whole thing at .75 speed.

Great Story, Narration had some real problems.

What did you like best about Hostile Taking? What did you like least?

The story was wonderful with some world building and steamy scenes. A bit too heavy on the mention of 'organs' and 'members' and other such sex related things. The narrator was actually really good, however he had trouble pronouncing words like 'heady' and a few others.

What other book might you compare Hostile Taking to and why?

It's something like Acquainted with the Night

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Most of the problem with the narrator were obvious editing problems, where the narrator mispronounced words, or repeated a sentence.

Could you see Hostile Taking being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Great story. Bad reader.

Love this story. I read it a while back and was thrilled to see it in audio format. Unfortunately the guy reading it has serious pacing problems and is just not pleasant to listen to. I only made it an hour in before I had to give it up.

If you can stand the reader it really is a great story worth your time.

Wonderful Story, Bad Pronunciation

Would you consider the audio edition of The Serpent's Shadow to be better than the print version?

No. The reader/performer did not do a very good job with pronunciation. It would have been nice if she had done some research about the correct way to pronounce words like epitome. If you can ignore that, she does a great job with the voices.

What did you like best about this story?

The richness of the background world.

I hated the incorrect pronunciation of common words. I loved the voices.

Yes, almost did too.

What made the experience of listening to Jumper the most enjoyable?

The reader/actor does an AMAZING job of speaking in Davy's voice. I really feel like I'm part of the story as I listen

Have you listened to any of Macleod Andrews’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have to say this is his best. It's like he IS Davy.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When he first meets his mother.

Any additional comments?

I really really really really wish there was some way to remove the stupid music at the beginning. When will these book companies realize that that music is NOT inspirational or feel good, but simply drowns out the reader and annoys the listener.

Of course! I love the whole series so far. Just a bit of mind candy to entertain you.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mags of course! He is a strong, well developed character and has a way of expressing himself that I find to be compelling.

What about Nick Podehl’s performance did you like?

I love his voices and accents. He reads at a steady pace that is very easy to listen to and his voice is just lovely.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Very much so. Wish I had the time!

I had a hard time pausing this story and stayed up half the night to listen to parts of it. I can't wait to listen to it again.

Very informative book for all dog lovers

What made the experience of listening to Pukka's Promise the most enjoyable?

The author interwove the story of his second dog, Pukka, with his research about the health and well being of dogs. He mostly sticks to science to explain many things associated with living with and owning dogs.

What did you like best about this story?

I am a dog trainer. I've lived with dogs my whole life and I rely on my service dog to live in a world made for able bodied people. I do my best to stay up to date on the best ways to care for my dogs. This book opened my eyes to a few new things I can do to ensure my dogs live long and healthy lives.

Any additional comments?

If you are a dog professional, a dog lover, or just someone who wants to learn more about these animals we share our lives with, read this book. I promise you will learn something.

Middling . . . the story is great, but the reading could use some work

What other book might you compare Storm Rising to and why?

Anything else by M. Lackey. It's very much in her style with many interesting characters but common threads bringing them all together.

Annoying, monotone, steady.
