Storming ending!

I was getting so bored that I almost gave up half way through, but I’m glad I didn’t!

Not much story!

This book appeared to have a story at the beginning, but very quickly descended into an extremely tedious dialog with virtually no discernible story holding it together. A word count of this book would find the words “slave” and “master” very high in the list, and “I am a slave”, or “You are a slave” probably the most common four word phrases!
While this might be quite titillating for a 14 year old boy, it becomes a little tedious by the continual repetition!

Food for thought!

Since this is an audio book one doesn’t get any footnotes, so it is not clear whether what is said is backed by solid, unbiased science, or is personal opinion.
That said, the message seems very well considered and logical, and I will be making some changes to my lifestyle as a result of listening to this book.

Yet another 'me too' 50 SoG; Billionaire falls madly in love with poor girl trying to eek out a living, whisks her off in his stretched limo / hellecopter / private jet / yacht, showers her with gifts yah-di-yah-di-yah...Similar irritating use of words (he has a 'massive towering (you know what)' but she has a 'core'... among other things).He tells her his big secret, she rushes out, then they get back together and they all live happily ever after. No whips, paddles or handcuffs in this one, but enough of 'the other' to satisfy any chicken flick addict.

This book doesn't grab you and hold you in the way that many other books do, but it is totally addictive because of the way Helen MacDonald paints images with words. At times her thoughts seem to jump about, from 'now' to her past, then to 'White', the author of a book that seems to have driven her all of her life, then back to now again.
One deeply feels the love - hate relationship that she has with Mabel ... her Goshawk; overwhelmingly it is love, but Mabel is a wild animal with a very firm view of her place in the world; which frequently leads her to projects that are not included in Helen's plans.
I love this book and highly commend it.

Not your usual Stephen King

I'm still not really sure what to make of this book. It appears to be a biography, without much story or direction, almost up to the last 30 minutes or so; only then does the real Stephen King shine through.
It also felt as if the book could end within the next few minutes, almost all the way through.
I certainly enjoyed it, but did not get that tugging 'thrill' that normally accompanies King' stories.

Also be aware that while some of these 'shorts' are an hour or more long, others are rather less than that.
