Historia
In his third book, Tantric philosopher and Oxford scholar Dr. Christopher Wallis calls out the seemingly helpful spiritual platitudes dominating our current culture and demonstrates how these "near-truths" can stand in the way of a more radically free and meaningful life—and ultimately, a deeper spiritual awakening. Rooted in the Asian wisdom traditions, Wallis’s book uncovers why these oft-heard clichés are “near enemies of the truth" that can distract us from real spirituality, and can even cause unnecessary suffering.

Idea of change
Revisado: 06-25-24
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the audio book. I would have to go back and listen to some of the sections again as English is my second language. The idea of change to realize that you are Universes child, there is only one truth and love is the only way we can bring a sustainable egalitarian society has caught me. I also felt given at least few of the current and historical events were mentioned how come the principle of “ahimsa” that was propagated by Mahatma Gandhi, followed by Rev Martin Luther king (MLK is mentioned) and Nobel Laureate Nelson Mandela movement did not find a place. I am assuming all the values including Ahimsa is a mental construct is what author is alluding to. But that leaves the question of can change be accomplished without a movement which requires an organization. In other words the how to accomplish change may be questioning the teachings of Bhagavad Gita that calls for action to establish Dharma. Please accept my apologies for the ignorance.

Historia
Tantra Illuminated takes the listener on a fascinating journey to the very heart of original Tantra: its key teachings, foundational lineages, and transformative practices. Since the West's discovery of Tantra 100 years ago, there has been considerable fascination, speculation, and more than a little misinformation about this spiritual movement. Now, for the first time in the English language, Tantra Illuminated presents an accessible introduction to this sacred tradition that began 1,500 years ago in the far north of India.

Tantric knowledge

Thank you Sri Harish for writing this book.
Revisado: 06-18-24
This book has in a way helped me understand and appreciate what my own lineage has done for centuries. I come from Kerala, southern India from a family with my own late uncle was the last practitioner and a teacher (Tantri) of Tantra. Our place of worship is still maintained but limited to the practice of daily puja now. Growing up, I have seen many of the practices described in the book. No doubt this book would help anyone interested in knowing about Tantra. My Pranam to Sri Harish for his continued research in reviving Tantric knowledge and practice and writing this book.

Historia
Once described by Mao Zedong as a "needle inside a ball of cotton", Deng was the pragmatic yet disciplined driving force behind China's radical transformation in the late 20th century. He confronted the damage wrought by the Cultural Revolution, dissolved Mao's cult of personality, and loosened the policies that had stunted China's growth. Obsessed with modernization, Deng opened trade relations with the West, which lifted hundreds of millions out of poverty. Yet he also answered to his authoritarian roots, most notably when he ordered the crackdown in 1989 at Tiananmen Square.

Excellent book on rise of China as a world power
Revisado: 07-09-21
This is a must listen book for those who wants to learn about China's transformation from an economically poor country to world's largest economy. It also provide insight into the pros and cons of various political ideologies and systems of governments that exists in the world today. The author Ezra F. Vogel has done a great job in detailing the personal traits of Deng Xiaoping objectively. While this is a long book, narrator Eric Jason Martin did an excellent job in keeping the listener very well engaged through out the book - a Herculean task for such long book.
I think the book can be made further pleasing to listen by minimizing the mention of dates of various meetings and details that are not significant. This can also help shorten the length.
Again a great book that has well documented what it took to uplift the standard of living of billion plus people in China along with the story of a transformative leader Deng Xiapping who has no parallel in the human history.
