Historia
From his earliest childhood, C.S. Lewis loved to hear and tell stories. Persuaded that stories could reveal the truth about the real world in a unique way, the literature professor would write more than thirty books, including science fiction, theology, literary criticism, and fantasy. (1898 -1963) In an era marked by two world wars, Lewis attacked tough questions about life and faith headfirst.

Profoundly moving!
Revisado: 12-26-24
initially, taking you there, in place and time, through a child and a young man's perspective, to taking you there, spiritually and emotionally, this script is alive! I felt as if I lived a lifelong journey through listening to this narrative, now looking forward to rereading all of CS Lewis's books.

Cabrini is an inspirational genius
Revisado: 08-31-24
This is the brilliant story of a truly inspirational genius. Life changing as it will challenge one to live life fully for others. Sadly, for me, the performance was very "uninspired." Monotone, irritating. I am currently listening to a different reader who brings the story to life.

Brilliant and Inspirational
Revisado: 06-12-24
One seldom reads about a more inspirational, compassionate, genius individual! Dr. Paul Brand used his education and his extraordinary creative and inquisitive research to transform thousands and thousands of lives on many continents. Every person was significant to him. This is a brilliantly written biography of a man whose work I have followed for decades. The writing and the performance brought me right there wherever he was living, studying, working, serving, from living in London during the horrendous bombing and World War II to the heat in Southern India or Louisiana. Thank you!

Profound!
Revisado: 02-18-24
From the moment I began to listen to Gerda's story, I was transfixed and overwhelmed. I could not stop listening; and last night, I stayed up all night even with work yet today because I didn't want to miss any of it. What this precious woman suffered as such a young person, really just a child, is so moving and the tears have flowed from my eyes all night. The narrator was so brilliant that I was just there, with Gerda and within her. I'm so heartbroken for what she suffered, for all that loss, and for never having met her. I pray that I can be as courageous as she was.

Brilliant on every level!
Revisado: 01-11-24
I have listened to many books on Audible, many moving stories, but this is the most brilliant reading: brilliant both as the story unfolds and one is drawn in and brilliant as the reader so effectively brings every moment, every voice, every nuance. I truly came to believe I was hearing Tante Corrie's voice as she was nearing "glory." I am overwhelmed with gratitude for Corrie and the ten Boom family, for Pam who was such a profound servant and author, and for the lively reading of this deey inspirational story.

Truly a brilliant reading, brilliant in every way, a voice shimmering with light! Hugh Grant effects a genius performance, one that drew me into every scene! So mesmerizing that one forgets it's just one person reading all of these parts. Thank you so much for enlivening my Christmas this year with a "not to be matched" presentation.

Revisado: 06-28-23
Deeply moving, compelling, powerful in both story and presentation of an extraordinary woman of God who was totally committed to our Lord Jesus Christ and still is, now in Heaven! The narrator, Alana Kerr Collins, quite frankly does the most outstanding job that I've heard with anything on Audible.

Historia
The Watchmaker’s Daughter is one of the greatest stories of World War II that listeners haven’t heard: the remarkable and inspiring life story of Corrie ten Boom—a groundbreaking, female Dutch watchmaker, whose family unselfishly transformed their house into a hiding place straight out of a spy novel to shelter Jews and refugees from the Nazis during Gestapo raids. Even though the Nazis knew what the ten Booms were up to, they were never able to find those sheltered within the house when they raided it.

Amy Carmichael's (1867-1951) life was one of simple, determined obedience to God, regardless of the consequences. Her service in India is a vivid example of the impact one person who will fear God and nothing else can have. Driven by love, sustained by faith and determination, this young woman from Northern Ireland defied the cruel barriers of India's caste system.
