Like so many others, I bought this book because of the controversy in which Comey has been embroiled. I did not know what to expect, but did not at all expect that the book would be so compelling. Not about 2016 presidential candidates or 45, because the book was barely about them. The book is part autobiography, part leadership analysis and all compelling. Comey, as a narrator, brings to life his story and his perspective. If you are looking for Trump trashing or Hillary bashing, you're in the wrong place. If you are looking for insight into Comey's thoughts as he navigated the spaces between rocks and hard places at different points in his career, you won't be disappointed. Five well earned stars.

Captivating "What If" Story

This is not really Kitty's or Tatiana's story, it is the intersection of Kitty and Dimitri, her great-grandfather, who she never met because of a family estrangement that she knew nothing about. After inheriting a previously unclaimed family estate and learning of her husband's infidelity, Kitty visits her great-grandfather's cabin and gets to know him, and herself, as she slowly uncovers a secret that defies history as she knows it. At the same time, we hear Dimitri and Tatiana's story -- love, loss, tragedy and deception -- ending in love once more.

The story is beautiful. The male narrator is spot on. The female narrator does a good job most of the time, but her American accent is hurts the ears and is poorly placed (there are no Brooklyn accents in the Adirondacks!). But the story is so mesmerizing that it's something that you can overlook.

This one is in the repeat listen for sure!

Nice tale of a wife who helps her husband through grieving for her after she dies. A secondary story about two friends bonding through their grief that took away from the main story. Narrator is good-not great, but not hard to listen to. Recommend as a light read.

What disappointed you about Cream of the Crop?

Narration was two dimensional. A couple of story arcs were underdeveloped or truncated.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Predictable. Would have liked to have seen the hero of the story take some lead on finding a HEA

Would you be willing to try another one of Deacon Lee and Olivia Song ’s performances?

Deacon Lee, yes. His role in this production was so small that I can't know how his narration of a full length book would be. Oliva Song I would listen to again, but not where she carries more than one or two characters, and definitely not a romance.

What character would you cut from Cream of the Crop?

Thomas-he was not necessary. And Missy - that part of the story was so disjointed that I am just not sure what the point of her was.

Any additional comments?

I loved the first audiobook of this series and I will likely listen to the third installment. This second one is probably better to do in print

ONE OF THOSE STORIES THAT MAKES YOU QUESTION WHAT YOU'VE MISSED IN LIFE

I started this amazing story in ebook form and, while I found it compelling, I had a hard time with some of it because there are so many different people who make up Joe Rantz's, and The Boat's, story. After a while, I was reading without truly taking it all in. When Audible put the book on sale, I picked it up and once I started listening to Edward Hermann's touching narration, I was transported to 1930's University of Washington, to their shell house, into Joe Rantz's life and into The Boat. Rowing is more than the sum of its parts - there are, in fact, no "parts" but one single, solitary thing of grace, and Daniel James Brown captures how this Boat came to be, and the narrator's high regard for the story he is telling is evident.

SUCH A FUN STORY!!

Would you consider the audio edition of To Catch a Spinster to be better than the print version?

Absolutely! Maureen Cavanaugh captures the sheer fun of the characters and adds so much more depth. I was perfectly happy having enjoyed the print version...short, sweet and fun. Then I got the audiobook and found myself amused even more!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Nathaniel, natch! From boredom with the same old routine to being shocked by Olivia, then becoming amused with her, then falling in love with her and putting so much into actually courting her from the heart, to disappointment to becoming resolved then back to happy and amused...poor guy went through the ringer and kept his sense of humor throughout!

Which scene was your favorite?

Nathaniel and Olivia's first dance after she was confronted by his sister. It was like a hurricane versus a tornado!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"A woman ahead of her time. A man determined to catch up."

Any additional comments?

I would pay top dollar to see this story play out on stage!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Ashes of Time to be better than the print version?

This is the one installment of the series that I preferred the print version, likely because the modern day story is the more dominant story and it's easier to keep track of its timeline because it takes place in modern times and the places and things are largely familiar.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Although we don't spend much time with him, I have a warm spot for Cassie's grandfather, Art. He just seems so cool with everything, like the modern day counterpart to Llywelyn.

Which scene was your favorite?

The very first one...with the extended family all together before the events of the story unfold. While that may seem odd given all the excitement in not just this book but the series as a whole, this is the only time they are all in the same place at the same time and interacting as any normal family celebrating family milestones.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

"I prayed my whole life that such a fate would be mine." 'Nuff said.

If you could sum up Castaways in Time in three words, what would they be?

Only three???? Intrigue across time

What other book might you compare Castaways in Time to and why?

Hmmm...in what other book is there a technologically superior entity that is doing its darnedest to learn all it can in order to plunder a simpler civilization that is experiencing its own conflicts? I Am Number Four, maybe?

What does Laurel Schroeder bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The pronunciation of the names of people and places is so key when you are reading the books and Ms. Schroeder breezes through it all in a way that lets the listener enjoy the whole story without the fear of getting lost in who's who (although the ebooks all begin with a fantastic guide to help the reader along...but it's really nice NOT to flip back and forth)

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The final scenes in the hospital rooftop had me on the edge of my seat...I confess, I was yelling at the characters to move faster!

Any additional comments?

BEST. BOOK. SERIES. EVER.

I've loved this series in both e-book and audio. This novella fills a story gap. While I have enjoyed Laurel Schroeder's narration of these stories, the pace and tone of this installment is inconsistent with the others, making it harder to listen to. Unlike the faster, more confident way she reads the rest of the books, this one is read in a slow, breathy whisper. Just hard to reconcile.

Would you consider the audio edition of Pride and Prejudice [Blackstone Audio] to be better than the print version?

Better? No. But more engaging. I really did not come here to review the book...it's a classic. But Carolyn Seymour's performance is especially praiseworthy when there are so many different readings out there. I tried three others before getting to this one and could not get through them because the performances were either too fast, flat or monotone. Ms Seymour's performance is engaging and moves at a nice pace.

Which character – as performed by Carolyn Seymour – was your favorite?

That would have to be Mrs Bennett. Ms. Seymour portrays her flightiness and superficiality with perfection.
