Historia
How do you define the good life? For many, success is measured not by health and happiness but by financial wealth. But such a worldview overlooks the important things in life: personal contentment, family time, spirituality, and the health of the planet and those living on it. A preoccupation with money and possessions is not only unhealthy, it can also drain the true joy from life. In recent years, millions have watched their American Dreams go up in smoke.

Very well written. A whole-food, plant-based eating is not a fad diet. It has been scientifically proven to be the healthiest diet for humans. Unfortunately we have been misled our whole lives about nutrition.

Historia
Every time we eat, we have the power to radically transform the world we live in. Our choices can help alleviate the most pressing issues we face today: the climate crisis, infectious and chronic diseases, human exploitation and, of course, non-human exploitation. Undeniably, these issues can be uncomfortable to learn about but the benefits of doing so cannot be overstated. It is quite literally a matter of life and death.

Excellent! I wish everyone would read this book!
Revisado: 02-24-22
This very well researched book is about the many ways that our diet and lifestyle choices affect the entire planet and every living being whether we believe it or not, including water and air pollution, deforestation, loss of wildlife habitat, species extinction, degradation of the soil, world hunger, human exploitation, antibiotic resistance, our health, and of course, the needless suffering of billions of animals just to name a few. In short, there are so many reasons to go vegan and not one good reason not to. It’s simply the right thing to do. The book ends with tips on how to talk about veganism with others and how even farmers and ranchers could benefit from a global shift toward veganism. If I weren’t already vegan, this book would convince me to do it. The only regret most well-informed vegans have is that they didn’t make the shift sooner.

Incredible True Story!
Revisado: 11-21-20
Victoria’s story is so inspiring and nothing short of miraculous! My only criticism is that despite the fact that she is reading about her own very emotional experiences, Victoria’s delivery is pretty dry. But that’s because she is young and inexperienced, not a professional reader. That said, I HIGHLY recommend this book for everyone!

Awesome book! Annoying music.
Revisado: 06-19-20
This is my first Bernie book, and I love it! I want to listen to all of his books. I wish all doctors were like him. I recommend it for all healthcare workers, their patients, their patients' families, and everyone else.
My only criticism is that the music is too lengthy between chapters, sometimes keeps playing during the reading, and in one part of one chapter the music even almost overpowers the reading.

Suffering from severe spinal and head injuries, Rynes knew she was dying. At that moment, she underwent the first of two life-changing near-death experiences - her consciousness split between her frightened, injured self lying on the road, and an impartial, peaceful observer-consciousness who watched as first responders fought to keep her alive. Her second, more lengthy near-death experience came days later, during the surgery that attempted to repair her traumatized spine.

This book is exactly what the title says. Ann describes the accident that nearly ended her life, her life before and after, her enlightening experience on the other side, and the lessons she learned there that inspired her to share them through this book. Some reviewers say the lessons are nothing new, but if you really take them to heart and begin to implement them into your life, you can transform your life for the better.

Revisado: 05-04-19
I have read a lot of books like this one; in my opinion, this is the best one, and the documentary is the best film on the subject of health. I wish everyone would watch the film and read (or listen to) the book. They have much of the same information, but the book has additional information. Another excellent book is How Not to Die by Michael Greger.

Historia
When street musician James Bowen found an injured cat curled up in the hallway of his apartment building, he had no idea how much his life was about to change. James was living hand to mouth on the streets of London, barely making enough money to feed himself - the last thing he needed was a pet. Yet, James couldn't resist helping the strikingly intelligent, but very sick animal, whom he named Bob. He slowly nursed Bob back to health and then sent the cat on his way, never imagining that he would see him again. But Bob had other ideas.

Bob is the coolest cat!
Revisado: 05-11-18
A heartwarming true story about an extraordinary cat who just seemed to know that his job in this lifetime is to help James get his life back on track -- and then some; and about James, who is a devoted father to Bob. Their bond is incredibly deep and strong. Kristopher does a great job narrating, and I find it hilarious when he imitates an American accent. It's just really sad to think about the fact that Bob won't live forever, and how very difficult it will be for James when the time comes. But in case you're worried, no, Bob doesn't die in this book. It has a happy ending.

I recommend this book for everyone. It should be required reading. It's a great gift. Dr. Greger dedicates his life to learning about all the latest unbiased research (with a lot of help from his trained staff) to learn what are the healthiest and unhealthiest foods and supplements. And he does it because he truly wants everyone to be informed so they can be as healthy as possible. His website is free to everyone and doesn't contain any advertisements. All proceeds from sales of this book, his cookbook, and his YouTube channel are donated to charity, so he's not in it for money.
