Couldn't tolerate it
Revisado: 07-08-18
The monotone like singing made this intolerable. I can barely tell the songs apart as the tempo and intonation was the same for them all...horrible effort

Historia
Despite unprecedented victories on the part of humanity, the war with the alien Chiata Horde drags on. The Chiata may be bewildered by the cunning tenacity of General Alexander Moore and the men and women who fight at his side, but they have no intention of beating a hasty retreat. In fact, intelligence suggests that the Chiata Invasion is at hand, and with numbers sure to overwhelm humankind.

TERRIBLE
Revisado: 06-12-18
I RARELY RATE BOOKS BUT I DON'T SEE HOW THIS BOOK IS RATED OVER 4 STARS. ITS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE.
I don't want to waste my time speaking too much about it but the entire book is one long fight scene. Thats is boring and confusing beyond belief. The entire 3 book space series so far isn't very good but this book was the worst. The amount of plot holes is also so damn beyond understanding. Besides 1 important event taking up 2 chapters in the book, the entire novel can be skipped without any changes to the overall plot.
I'm also sick of 'magic' dues ex victories where humans win not by tactics or even luck but some magic quick fix that suddenly gives them overwhelming abilities. they did this multiple times now. Are the aliens so stupid that they can't even figure out "lets put more power into the shields?" tactic? even when its shown to them?
is a simple robot beetle can pretty much do anything? why haven't the chiata been easily defeated long ago especially since they must have been so much weaker then?
I can easily go on but this book is amazingly bad...

Historia
This is the way the world ends...for the last time. It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world's sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester. This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the Earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

Historia
Eighteen-year-old Aidan Salt isn't a superhero. With his powerful (and unpredictable) telekinetic abilities, he could be one if he wanted to, but he doesn't. He's unambitious, selfish, and cowardly, and he doesn't want to have to deal with all the paperwork required to become a professional superhero. But since the money, fame, and women that come with wearing the cape are appealing, he decides to become the first supervillain the world has seen in more than 20 years: Apex Strike.

Historia
To become a Dark Lord is no easy thing. The simple ambition to hold dominion over the world and bend all to your will sounds straightforward, but it's not. There are armies to raise, fortresses to build, heroes to defeat, and battles to be fought. After many spectacular failures, Evil decided to lend more than inspiration to these would-be tyrants. He wrote an easy-to-follow Dark Lord's Handbook. And yet the next Dark Lord that came along screwed up like all the others.

Funny book with many amusing trope references. A look at the stereotypical rising hero story but from the other side.

confusing, irrelevant story
Revisado: 05-18-15
Would you try another book from Evan Currie and/or Todd Haberkorn?
yes
What was most disappointing about Evan Currie’s story?
confusing, silly story line
Any additional comments?
While i liked the main series starting with 'into the black', this side series is just a confusing mess. it takes place at one location with nonsensical encounters just for the purposes of having marine fire fights. he could have made it more about discovery or them vs alien technology or go to other locations where encounters are more reasonable. poorly thought out

Ken follett is over rated
Revisado: 08-09-13
Any additional comments?
I doubt i'll buy another fen follet book. I feel he's highly overrated. When I first read pillars of the earth it was fresh enough but now I see he's pretty much a one trick pony. Every book has the same characters under different names.
Most of the minor characters are completely forgettable and uninteresting. The main characters he spends most of the time are the same archetypes he keeps re-using
The story is just a rehash of real history seen from the fictional ground floor - but since he keeps moving prospective to various characters the story stays very generic.
Harry turtledove already did this story- and better- at least there the history was changed so your interested in seeing what happens next- here there is no anticipation of events as you know exactly what will happen, and i couldn't care less what happens to any of these characters.
I am struggling just to keep listening to this book let alone read it.
I been more and more disinterested with every follet book i buy, this will be the last.
