Another Great Amazon / Bezos Read
Revisado: 09-30-21
I read Brad Stone’s first Amazon book years ago and have been waiting for the follow up for quite a while. He did not disappoint - another entertaining, insightful, fast moving story just like his first. The other reason I enjoy these stories about Amazon is because I was following Amazon’s early beginnings since 1997. I thought they were going to be an unbelievable company with tremendous potential and even purchased a few shares of it stock in 1999, alas, too few. So my interest in Amazon has been ongoing for 22 years and with Brad’s excellent writing and storytelling I really enjoyed the peek behind the curtain.

Historia
Once Donald Trump’s fiercest surrogate, closest confidant, and staunchest defender, Michael Cohen knows where the skeletons are buried. This is the most devastating business and political horror story of the century. As Trump’s lawyer and “fixer”, Cohen not only witnessed firsthand but was also an active participant in the inner workings of Trump’s business empire, political campaign, and presidential administration.

A Fast Moving, Fun Read...
Revisado: 11-03-20
After reading three books in this unparalleled political era, I didn’t know if I was ready for a fourth just yet. Curiosity got the best of me though and I fired it up on Audible. What a great listen! Fast moving, informative, and just plain fun to listen to. It was one of my faves. Robert Petkoff was great with narration to – you can almost picture Michael Cohen reading the book to you. I gave the book high-fives and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good political read.

Historia
In the winter of 1918, at the height of World War I, history's most lethal influenza virus erupted in an army camp in Kansas, moved east with American troops, then exploded, killing as many as 100 million people worldwide. It killed more people in 24 weeks than AIDS has killed in 24 years, more in a year than the Black Death killed in a century. But this was not the Middle Ages, and 1918 marked the first collision between modern science and epidemic disease.

What a great read!
Revisado: 08-16-20
I asked my friends and family what book they’re reading to lift their spirits through our current pandemic. I tell them that I chose one that I was looking forward to raise my spirits too. I then tell them the title of this book and there’s always a little chuckle.
Nevertheless, I did choose to read this book because we were in the current pandemic and I thought this book would offer some interesting insight to what we’re going through right now. It turns out that this is simply a fabulous story about one of the most worst pandemics in American history. I don’t mean this to say that the book is gruesome and will gross you out at the end of every chapter. It’s a story of American medicine in the United States at the turn of the century. It’s a story of wonderful researchers that have raised American medicine to its highest levels.
It was equally surprising to me that the same mistakes we are making now in the US with today’s pandemic we’re pretty much the same as they were back in 1918 and 1919. It’s amazing to me that we can’t learn from our mistakes of the past.
I would give this book my highest recommendation and have. It’s great storytelling, full of wonderful information, and totally entertaining and thought-provoking to the end.

Wonderful I nspiration through trouble times.
Revisado: 11-21-19
What a great story! You practically hung on every word as Major Taylor was nearing the winning completion of his races. As a sports story it was a very good read. But, what struck me was also the rampant racism so prevalent at this time in our American history. Yet, through it all Major Taylor prevailed not just on the racetrack but also in life.

Historia
April 25, 1986 in Chernobyl was a turning point in world history. The disaster not only changed the world’s perception of nuclear power and the science that spawned it, but also our understanding of the planet’s delicate ecology. With the images of the abandoned homes and playgrounds beyond the barbed wire of the 30-kilometer Exclusion Zone, the rusting graveyards of contaminated trucks and helicopters, the farmland lashed with black rain, the event fixed for all time the notion of radiation as an invisible killer.

A fantastic “page turner” from beginning to end!
Revisado: 04-11-19
Wow! What a great read. This book was truly a page turner from start to finish. What makes it very cool in that regard is that the entire book is fact, not fiction. The depth of information and the way it was presented was on believably informative and thoroughly entertaining. Definitely five stars!

Poisons and Murders - What a Great Read!
Revisado: 09-18-18
I have to say, this is one my favorite reads. Each chapter was more interesting than the next. To see how forensic science evolved during that period of our history was so intriguing, the book kept your interest from beginning to end. The narrator did a great job throughout and kept you on the edge of your seat with her tempo and pace. Highly recommended! David
