Historia
I’m so looking forward to meeting Aunt Maura, my mother’s twin sister who lives on the rugged west coast of Ireland. With my own mother dying so suddenly, and my sweet baby daughter arriving, I need family around me. But instead of arriving at Maura’s house safe and sound, I wake up in hospital, badly injured. Then I remember the crash. Where is my baby?

Fascinating characters
Revisado: 04-24-25
Caroline Mitchell always does such a good job of developing interesting characters within an unpredictable plot. This book was no exception. I didn't want to take breaks from it to go to work. :) Loved the narrators accents.

Historia
The double murder of a married couple in a small Washington town draws FBI forensic linguist Raisa Susanto into an investigation that mirrors a decades-old crime. Twenty-five years ago—to the day—Alex Parker murdered his parents, then took his own life, leaving behind a note admitting everything. Raisa, paired with forensic psychologist Callum Kilkenny, uses her skills to read between the lines. Especially now that paranoid postings on a conspiracy thread suggest that Alex was a victim himself.

Enjoyed Learning about an FBI Skill
Revisado: 04-15-25
Highly recommend this book! Great plot twists and characters. Held my attention throughout whole book. Previously I had never heard of “linguistics” as an FBI skill and it was fascinating to learn about how the science is used. Will look for more books by this author.

Story Dragged Out
Revisado: 04-09-25
This book would have been much better if it was about half as long. The story was good in that it was not predictable. Good plot twists. I found the characters very unlikable. Most disturbing was the focus on violence/sadism in the story. If you aren’t comfortable reading accounts of child abuse or sexual violence you might want to skip this one.

Heartbreaking Realistic Story
Revisado: 04-09-25
This was a well told story albeit heartbreaking one. Characters were well developed and believable. The saddest thing about it is you know this story was lived by so many girls in that era. The ending was realistic with some positives in the main characters life but recognition of losses.

Fascinating Portrayal of Characters with Mental Illness
Revisado: 02-19-25
This was a great book with a storyline that kept me engaged with the story and eager to read more throughout the book. Very compassionate insight into the inner workings of a mind suffering from a serious mental illness and the ways that illness impacted her quality of life. Great character development. Easy to follow transitions I. The story from present to past. Plausible premise and twists. I highly recommend this book!

Storyline wasn’t very believable and characters weren’t developed well. It was an ok story with a couple of good twists. Not a waste of time and money just not great.

Gave me chills!
Revisado: 01-28-25
A chilling look through the eyes of a sociopath. Strong characters. Chapters written from point of view of different characters engaging as was the storyline itself. So disturbing to know there are really people in the world like this even though this person was only a character. Highly recommend.

Great Characters in Interesting Fantasy World
Revisado: 01-01-25
This book was thoroughly entertaining and it kept my attention the whole time. Very likable and relatable characters who were well developed. I’ve seen reviews where people criticized the similarities between some elements of FW and elements of previously published fantasy/romance books. Who cares? This author made the elements work in a way that resulted in a great book! I can’t wait to read the next two in this series. 😃. Highly recommend.

Novel storyline and Characters
Revisado: 12-17-24
Lots of plot suprises and excellent character development. Its fascinating to be inside a characters head who has obvious mental issues herself as she tries to figure out someone else with mental illness and dementia. The back and forth between present and childhood was easy to follow. The ending was great….tying up most loose ends but keeping you guessing about just enough. Recommend.

The story was unpredictable enough to keep it interesting. Well written believable characters. It was a little hard sometimes to know which one was speaking based on the performance. The read was worth the time and money.
