Heavy on religious talk and quoting scripture
Revisado: 02-12-23
This starts a story line then gets really heavy into the Bible quotes and religious language. It felt more like a means to mission as opposed to a book. I didn't pay for that, so I returned the book.

Great Story
Revisado: 11-21-21
I really enjoyed this book. This author is now on my 'Will pay full credit' list. I thought this was going to be a slow and possibility somewhat boring story, but I was very wrong. There are some spunky, sassy characters. It has good humor and unique characters. It was one I did not want to listen to when I was tired as I did not want to miss the good lines.

Beautiful not overwhelmingly depressing.
Revisado: 10-31-21
I thought this was going to be really heavy and hard to listen to all the way through. It was actually a beautiful story and of course had the reality of Auschwitz, but was not overwhelmingly depressing. It focused more on the relationships between people with the back drop of Auschwitz. I will read this author again. I got this on sale, but would pay a full a credit for this and will for this author in the future.

Written by veteran police sergeant Adam Plantinga, 400 Things Cops Know brings the listener into life the way cops experience it - a life of danger, frustration, occasional triumph, and plenty of grindingly hard routine work.

Great book. Good sense of humor.
Revisado: 10-20-21
I really enjoyed this book. I thought I'd listen to it hear or there when I couldn't concentrate on a heavier story. I ended up listening to this straight through. I probably got this out of curiosity and the fact that I live in the SF area and have lived in the city. It was very good and not specific to SF, but had some streets and things I could recognize. I got this in one of the sales, but gladly would have paid full price. I will use a full credit to get his other book. He has a great sense of humor and the narrator was perfect for his writing voice. I was disappointed he's not the narrator for the other book.

Historia
When romance novelist Kate Smith suddenly gets writer's block as she's beginning the final installment of her international best-selling erotic Bed 'n Breakfast series, she'll do pretty much anything to get her groove back. Like sneak into a Tire Depot waiting room because her words flow there just like complimentary coffee - smooth, sweet, and scorchingly hot. She manages to fly under the radar until the rugged and charming mechanic, Miles Hudson, notices the quirky redhead slinking in and out of the employees-only entrance. But she's way too intriguing to blow the whistle on.

Most of the book is sex.
Revisado: 09-10-21
I like the characters in the story and the writing is cute. I'm having a hard time finishing it as seventy percent of the story is explicit sex scenes. I don't have a problem with this except that three kids live above me and I really don't want to walk around with ear buds in my own apartment. If you have a lack of privacy in your life, this is probably not the book for you. If you are religious and offended by sex, definitely not a good choice.

Archaeologist Verity Grey has been drawn to the dark legends of the Scottish Borderlands in search of the truth buried in a rocky field by the sea. Her eccentric boss has spent his whole life searching for the resting place of the lost Ninth Roman Legion and is convinced he's finally found it - not because of any scientific evidence, but because a local boy has "seen" a Roman soldier walking in the fields, a ghostly sentinel who guards the bodies of his long-dead comrades.

The right book at the right time. This is my favorite book from Kearsley so far. It doesn't drag too much with the history. It's enough to be informing and interesting without losing me. I liked all the characters. It is clean reading for those who are offended by language or sex.

Revisado: 08-16-21
This was a very good book. It is a war time story which naturally has sad parts, but it is not overly depressing where you'll avoid listening to it because it just makes you feel depressed. I felt for most of the characters, even those that didn't make the best choices.

If someone were to ask Jasmine Santos to describe the last few years of her life with a single word, it would definitely be a four-letter one. After 17 years - and countless broken bones and broken promises - she knows her window to compete in figure skating is coming to a close. But when the offer of a lifetime comes in from an arrogant idiot she's spent the last decade dreaming about pushing in the way of a moving bus, Jasmine might have to reconsider everything.

Bad Language Nonstop
Revisado: 08-08-21
I am not offended by bad language and usually roll my eyes at reviews that mention a bad word had been used in this book. This one; however, was over the top and the narrator was enthusiastic, so she would yell them. They often came in threes, with the last shout being super loud. There are three kids in the apartment above me. I try not to expose them to bad language in my audio book. It got really annoying to have to grab my iPod and turn down the volume constantly.
I liked the story for the most part. There were a few parts that I thought the main character was creating drama where there was non, but that's real. People do that. I like the ending, so it got four stars for me.

Historia
I knew on the day of the attack that our lives were changed forever. What I didn’t know then was that I’d never see John again after he deployed. One day he was living with me, sleeping next to me, making plans with me. The next day he was gone. That was five years ago. The world has moved on from that awful day, but I’m stuck in my own personal hell, waiting for a man who may be dead for all I know. At my sister’s wedding, I meet Eric, the brother of the groom, and my heart comes alive once again.

Author needs to seek an editor and then listen.
Revisado: 07-06-21
It was clear to me that this book was self published. I really liked the characters and the narrators which is why I did not give up on this book. I had to take a star off though because it had so many inconsistencies in the characters and unbelievable plot points. YES! It is 100% unbelievable that a woman would live with a man in the military for two years and NOT know what branch. Under no circumstances would that happen. It is stenciled with his name and rank on every item of clothing, duffel, and anything else they own. Not to mention on any paperwork that he would have or receive because they don't serve in a bubble. The author tried to explain and rationalize which reminded me of the conversations I've had with friends who self publish and white knuckle every little detail they write when faced with how they can make their story stronger. This author needs to seek an editor and LISTEN. Decide who and what for each character then stick to it. Don't bounce around character traits to serve your one plot point to then change their actions and reactions completely to serve the next scene or situation.
If these kinds of things bother you, then definitely pass on this book. If you just like to zone out with a nice story and characters and not think too much then this is a good one. I liked all the people in the story. It is not a light, boring story.
As a note to the author and society in general, we do not give men 'Big Points' for not raping us. That should be a standard expectation. Come on! Having sex with a woman who is drunk is legally rape and everyone knows that by now. So, they don't get points for not taking advantage. They get to live a free life in society and not be a criminal. Let's not perpetuate a very out dated way of thinking.
