Another enjoyable stand alone tale from MJS
Revisado: 12-28-17
If you liked the other Riyria Chronicles books , then you will enjoy this one. Well crafted new characters and of course the warm and fuzzy blankets we call Royce and Hadrian. Somehow MJS keeps the stories fresh and entertaining after all these years.

Ellis Rogers is an ordinary man who is about to embark on an extraordinary journey. All his life he has played it safe and done the right thing. But when he is faced with a terminal illness, Ellis is willing to take an insane gamble. He's built a time machine in his garage, and if it works, he'll face a world that challenges his understanding of what it means to be human, what it takes to love, and the cost of paradise. Historia
Since time immemorial, humans have worshipped the gods they call Fhrey, truly a race apart: invincible in battle, masters of magic, and seemingly immortal. But when a god falls to a human blade, the balance of power between humans and those they thought were gods changes forever. Now only a few stand between humankind and annihilation: Raithe, reluctant to embrace his destiny as the God Killer. Suri, a young seer burdened by signs of impending doom. And Persephone, who must overcome personal tragedy to lead her people.

A wonderfully constructed tale.
Revisado: 08-05-17
As I primarily use audio books for my one hour commute , It typically takes me a while to finish a book and this book started no differently. However after the first couple chapters , I noticed myself staying in the car to finish a scene. Soon after , I found myself popping in my headphones while I did household chores to listen to the ever compelling story. Next I started listening at lunchtime , slowly being absorbed into knowing what would happen next. Before I knew it , it was over. I felt like a kid that opened all their christams presents in the first 5 minutes. Thankfully by chapter 4 I had already purchased the second in the series! Sullivan's characters are organically crafted and wonderfully developed. His pacing and storytelling are constantly engaging. Mind you , it is not all action but everything fits into fully homogenized wonderful experience.
