Historia
Explorer and inventor, soldier and poet, archaeologist and diplomat, Richard Francis Burton (1821-1890) was the most versatile and remarkable man of his age. But he was foremost an adventurer: “an adventurer in the intellectual and the spiritual as well as the physical world.” Byron Farwell brilliantly recreates the sheer excitement of Burton’s achievements and astonishing range of interests in this fascinating biography.

Interesting story.
Revisado: 10-04-20
The fascinating life story of a largely forgotten, but still great, adventurous wanderer. To describe his life here would be impossible but I highly recommend you give this a listen. Very good narration of an exhaustively researched and thorough examination of the life and works of Richard F. Burton. I have read two different biographies and they seem to differ on some points but the other is not on audible so give this one a go if you're interested in the life stories of important, yet possibly somewhat overlooked, explorers of the world.

She finally got to write a book for her uncle...
Revisado: 08-05-20
...and boy is it a scary and eye opening account of the life of the most dangerous a-hole to ever run this country. We used to have accomplished leaders that we could be proud to call our president regardless of political affiliation. Now we just have a completely unremarkable con man with no real talents or skills doing damage to our nation that very likely will take decades to undo. I hope everyone has read or listened to this because it is a sad reality we all should learn from. Very well written and narrated. This is a sad story of a successful man and his dysfunctional children. I only wish Mary had written this book before the last election. It may have changed things, but we'll never know now. Highly recommend.

Amazingly open and honest bio from a man that needs no introduction. Great read/listen. I love Flea's narration. He read it with so much soul that it had me laughing out loud and even crying. So glad he chose to share his story and I am eagerly awaiting the next part. Buy this and you won't regret it. Thank you, Flea.

I've been a fan of this book ever since I read it as a youth. It inspired me in many ways to think in new and unconventional ways. This version is narrated by several different voice actors and they do an excellent job retelling this captivating story. I think Frank Herbert would approve.

For over 100 years, the mystery of Jack the Ripper has been a source of unparalleled fascination and horror, spawning an army of obsessive theorists and endless volumes purporting to finally reveal the identity of the brutal murderer who terrorized Victorian England. But what if there was never really any mystery at all?

Historia
Here is one of the best historical novels ever written. Lame, stammering Claudius, once a major embarrassment to the imperial family and now emperor of Rome, writes an eyewitness account of the reign of the first four Caesars: the noble Augustus and his cunning wife, Livia; the reptilian Tiberius; the monstrous Caligula; and finally old Claudius himself. Filled with poisonings, betrayal, and shocking excesses, I Claudius is history that rivals the most exciting contemporary fiction.

It has inspired me in many ways and the author is an amazing writer. Check out The Diamond Age for a story by him set in the future which is just as awesome.
