Good, but not great
Revisado: 04-20-25
While this book presents intriguing insights, it tends to prioritize archaeological aspects at the expense of a comprehensive exploration of the horse's historical significance and its profound impact on human civilization.
Horses have been integral to the development of societies, yet the text only superficially addresses the multifaceted roles they have played throughout history.
For those with a deep appreciation for equestrian studies, particularly in relation to their socio-cultural implications, this work may still offer a thought-provoking read.

Historia
A best-selling historian's gripping account of the powerful men who controlled America's financial destiny. From the first days of the United States, a battle raged over money. On one side were the democrats, who wanted cheap money and feared the concentration of financial interests in the hands of a few. On the other were the capitalists who sought the soundness of a national bank and the profits that came with it.

Interesting
Revisado: 04-17-25
This book by Brands is another well-crafted addition to his body of work. He has a talent for weaving complex narratives from a neutral perspective, capturing the essence of the topic without getting bogged down in tedious details.
"The Money Men" exemplifies this skill, as it spans nearly 150 years of history within just 250 pages. The author manages to convey the material effectively without falling into bias or generalization. It's an excellent read for anyone interested in economics and history, offering valuable insights in a concise format.

Dr. Peterson guides us through the ancient, foundational stories of the Western world. In riveting detail, he analyzes the Biblical accounts of rebellion, sacrifice, suffering, and triumph that stabilize, inspire, and unite us culturally and psychologically. Adam and Eve and the eternal fall of mankind; the resentful and ultimately murderous war of Cain and Abel; the cataclysmic flood of Noah; the spectacular collapse of the Tower of Babel; Abraham’s terrible adventure; and the epic of Moses and the Israelites.

Interesting
Revisado: 04-09-25
This was my third book by Dr. Jordan Peterson, and it stood out as the most challenging yet. He skillfully explores relevant passages from the Old Testament to illustrate the nature of God and our relationship with Him as humans.
While the book requires focus and can feel repetitive at times, it delivers powerful messages and valuable context that make the effort worthwhile.

Revisado: 03-09-25
The book presented an intriguing mix of content, but I found myself hoping for a stronger connection to real-world applications. At times, the narrative delved deep into technical jargon and complex theories, which made it feel somewhat detached from everyday issues that readers might encounter. Nonetheless, the book is rich with fascinating food concepts and delightful curiosities that kept me engaged. It explores everything from the science behind fermentation to the cultural significance of various dishes, offering a wealth of knowledge that is both enlightening and thought-provoking.

Inspiring
Revisado: 03-06-25
I purchased this book after coming across some insightful posts from the author on X, but I wasn't sure what to expect. To my surprise, it turned out to be quite excellent. The writing is engaging and genuinely inspiring. I appreciated the author's honesty about his own flaws and vulnerabilities, which makes him relatable. His strong connection to his faith really shines through. I wholeheartedly recommend this book; it's a meaningful reflection that many can benefit from.

Historia
For decades in America, car racing meant NASCAR, and to a lesser extent IndyCar, with Formula 1—the wealthiest racing league in the world—a distant third. Fast forward to 2023, and F1 has emerged at the front of the pack powered by a passionate yet nascent American fanbase. The F1 juggernaut has arrived, but this checkered flag was far from inevitable.

Surprisingly good
Revisado: 03-02-25
Initially, I had some reservations about reading a Formula 1 book authored by Americans. However, I found the book to be quite accurate and balanced in its portrayal of the sport's history, its teams, and its drivers. Furthermore, it concludes with insightful reflections on the present and future of Formula 1.

Historia
In the early 1800s, three young men strode onto the national stage, elected to Congress at a moment when the Founding Fathers were beginning to retire to their farms. Daniel Webster of Massachusetts, a champion orator known for his eloquence, spoke for the North and its business class. Henry Clay of Kentucky, as dashing as he was ambitious, embodied the hopes of the rising West. South Carolina's John Calhoun, with piercing eyes and an even more piercing intellect, defended the South and slavery.

HW Brands is one of the best
Revisado: 02-15-25
This is another good book from HW Brands. It's not his best, but he is still assured he is one of the greatest history writers.
This book covers three figures not well known outside the USA but very important to the course of history.
The book uses very well significant background moments such as the 1812 war, 1833 tariffs and the 1850 compromise to portray their stories. Sometimes the book gets a bit boring, resembling a law book. Anyhow, a good book for those interested in the American history.

The bestselling fitness book for men who want to gain 25-35 pounds of lean muscle and lose as much fat or more in just 3-5 hours per week—and without giving up delicious foods or doing grueling workouts. Is Bigger Leaner Stronger a body building book that can help you pack on brain-shrinking amounts of muscle in 30 days flat? No. Is it a fitness nutrition book full of dubious diet and exercise “hacks” and “shortcuts” for melting belly fat faster than a roided hornet? Absolutely not.

Historia
In the 21st century, humanity is reaching new heights of scientific understanding - and at the same time appears to be losing its mind. How can a species that developed vaccines for COVID-19 in less than a year produce so much fake news, medical quackery, and conspiracy theorizing? Pinker rejects the cynical cliché that humans are an irrational species - cavemen out of time saddled with biases, fallacies, and illusions.

Ok
Revisado: 12-19-24
This book begins as a rather typical exploration of statistics and probability, providing foundational concepts and standard examples that many readers might find familiar. However, as the author delves deeper into the intriguing connection between these mathematical principles and the concept of rationality, the narrative takes a turn. Unfortunately, the examples used in this latter section feel somewhat simplistic and lack the depth needed to engage the reader fully. Furthermore, references to the Covid pandemic throughout the text have not aged well, making some of the content feel dated and less relevant in today's context.

Good
Revisado: 11-23-24
This is a good book; however, because I read it at the end of 2024, I know that some of its predictions aren't going well.
The book does an excellent job in its historical analysis and fundamentals, but, even for a book from the beginning of the 21st century, it forgot to include the advance of the Islamic population in Europe and its consequence, among other relevant inputs that probably will shape the rest of the century.
Anyhow, it is a good and enjoyable reading.
