Historia
We meet Andrew Leland as he’s suspended in the liminal state of the soon-to-be blind: he’s midway through his life with retinitis pigmentosa, a condition that ushers those who live with it from sightedness to blindness over years, even decades. He grew up with full vision, but starting in his teenage years, his sight began to degrade from the outside in. Soon— but without knowing exactly when—he will likely have no vision left. Full of apprehension but also dogged curiosity, Leland embarks on a sweeping exploration of the state of being that awaits him.

Phenomenally human and honest memoir
Revisado: 11-05-24
I LOVED this book. I read it because I have a family member becoming blind with RP, but I think I would have loved it just as much if I did not. The author is so honest and open about so many dimensions of the human experience. I feel a debt of gratitude to the author, Andrew, for allowing me to bear witness to the complexity and depth of his experience. I hope this book will be widely read and help lessen the gulf between those of us whose vision is fully intact and those who have become blind. Particularly, between me and my loved one. Thank you, Andrew, you're a great author, and I hope you will write another book!

Historia
How do you make a change in your life when the tools you used to rely on start letting you down? Whether we’re struggling with a problem, a bad habit, or life in general, we often think we need to “tough it out” or “try harder.” But when we do that, our brains double down on the patterns that got us stuck in the first place. Fortunately, the science of sensation provides the key.

I appreciate the ideas, however, the author could have and would have more effectively written this book with 15 or 20% as many words. Her for the course for today's self-help books.

Ranting narcissistic drivel criticizing call Dog professionals while offering exactly 08 information or insight
Revisado: 09-25-22
I listened to more than half of this book, and in that time, gleaned nothing. I I have read perhaps 80 books about and other animal behavior by professionals such as veterinary behaviorist, he fall adjusts, and the most respected professionals in the world of dog training or animal behavior. I would recommend almost everyone of them over this book, which again, teaches nothing; it is just a rant of how ignorant The author finds everyone else in the dog world to be.

One of the most helpful books about what's important in life and how to have healthy relationships I've ever read.
Revisado: 09-20-22
I read this book 15 to 20 years ago, and it made a profound impact on my life. I was re-introduced to it by my nephew, and found it every bit as helpful, all over again. I recommend it to everyone! It is a must read if you want to live your life as lovingly as possible, with meaningful connections to others. Thank you, Marshall Rosenberg, for all the good you have brought about in this world!

Historia
First published in 1975, Animal Liberation created a sensation upon its release, shaking the world's philosophical and animal-protection circles to their cores. Now, 40 years later, Peter Singer's landmark work still looms large as a foundational and canonical text of animal advocacy. Arguing that all beings capable of suffering deserve equal consideration, Singer contends that the only justifiable treatment of animals is that which maximizes good and minimizes suffering.
