… which takes a deep dive into the systemic issues that so often are not linked together for all to see

I highly recommend this book for parents, teachers, community heads - a must read (listen).

We are interdependent- that is why it’s said “when a butterfly flaps it’s wings in South America it’s felt in Africa”.

The systemic consequences of trauma touch each & everyone of us in some manner & on some level, and instead of shying away, this book teaches us “how we got to now” - it teaches compassion instead judgement, and in my Mother’s own words “there but for the grace of God go I”.
Oprah’s own life is testimony of the possibilities of healing when we choose to see trauma through the inquiry of “what happened to you?” leaving behind our negative biases of “wrong”, “damaged”, “labelled”.
This book reminds us of our own interconnected humanity & opens our eyes to the systems that keep us locked into ‘used futures’ that exacerbate trauma.
It is by design that we are our happiest when helping others - become that help to another wounded human by asking “what happened to you?”, we are all so desperate to be deeply heard and listened to. It is one of the greatest gifts we can offer another & to hold that person in high esteem, “singing their song back to them, to remind them of who they beautifully are” trauma & all.
A book to emotionally & socially remind us that we are humans first, to impact the future of our humanity 🙏🏼

Especially powerful as I was listening to this from a South African perspective, yet the potential on a global level huge.

This is a book everyone should listen to at least twice & if we could get this kind of engagement early, in the lives of our children, the reduction in world conflict and possibilities become infinite.
