Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

This story captured my heart. It's well written and well narrated. I was so emotional when it ended, but so glad I experienced it.

I loved this reading! I was so absorbed in it I felt I was there! I don't want it to end. T Roosevelt is a hero of mine and I'm glad Alice got to have her story told.

wonderful historical fiction
Revisado: 03-07-24
I want sure this would be a good for for me, but I love the author's other books and this is my favorite era to read about, so I decided to give it a try. Let me tell you, I was blown away. I cheered with the characters as well as cried. Even though I knew how the story would end, I kept hoping it would be different. I loved this story so much I listened to it 3x back to back to back. Thank you too the author, I could feel your emotion as well in the words. The voice of the book gets a big thumbs up as well. She makes the listener feel like they are in the story.

so much fun
Revisado: 02-03-24
This book is a lot of fun. I am hooked on Tudor history and when I saw this I decided to give it a try. I laughed, had tears in my eyes, and listened to it straight through. Twice. I hope there is a book 2

Historia
Feisty, passionate Beatrice Steele has never fit the definition of a true lady, according to the strict code of conduct that reigns in Swampshire, her small English township—she is terrible at needlework, has absolutely no musical ability, and her artwork is so bad it frightens people. Nevertheless, she lives a perfectly agreeable life with her marriage-scheming mother, prankster father, and two younger sisters— beautiful Louisa and forgettable Mary. But she harbors a dark secret: She is obsessed with the true crime cases she reads about in the newspaper.
