Historia
The Russian by Saul Herzog is the stunning second instalment in the series that has taken the publishing industry, and Hollywood rights departments, by storm. This dazzling tour de force is a full standalone novel. From the mind of one of the most creative and versatile writers working in America today, this book will surely go down as a classic of the spy thriller genre.

Not as good as the first.
Revisado: 01-12-25
I loved The Asset and wanted to love this book. However, this story is predictable and drags on. The Larissa character was annoying and Lance's responses were also predictable and I found myself rolling my eyes and wanting for it to end. I won't be getting anymore Lance Spector books. Sorry to say

When the Knight Bus crashes through the darkness and screeches to a halt in front of him, it's the start of another far from ordinary year at Hogwarts for Harry Potter. Sirius Black, escaped mass-murderer and follower of Lord Voldemort, is on the run - and they say he is coming after Harry. In his first ever Divination class, Professor Trelawney sees an omen of death in Harry's tea leaves... When Lance Spector quit the CIA, he swore he was out for good. One more government lie and he would go off the deep end. They could find someone else to do their dirty work. As far as he was concerned, Washington, Langley, the Pentagon could all go to hell.

Historia
Begin Again is one of the great books on James Baldwin and a powerful reckoning with America’s ongoing failure to confront the lies it tells itself about race. Just as in Baldwin’s “after times,” argues Eddie S. Glaude Jr., when white Americans met the civil rights movement’s call for truth and justice with blind rage and the murders of movement leaders, so in our moment were the Obama presidency and the birth of Black Lives Matter answered with the ascendance of Trump and the violent resurgence of white nationalism.

In The Four Agreements, a New York Times best seller for over seven years, don Miguel Ruiz revealed how the process of our education, or “domestication,” can make us forget the wisdom we were born with. Throughout our lives, we make many agreements that go against ourselves and create needless suffering.

Historia
January 1970 finds Ezekiel “Easy” Rawlins, LA’s premier Black detective, at 50 years of age despite all expectations. He has a loving family, a beautiful home, and a thriving investigation agency. All is right with the world… and then Amethystine Stoller, his own personal Helen of Troy, arrives. Her ex-husband is missing. A simple enough case. But even as Easy takes his first step in the investigation he trips. He falls into the memory of things past. Little things, like loss, love, a world war, and a hunger that has eaten at him since he was a Black boy on his own.

Narration Off-putting
Revisado: 07-04-24
The story was good. I feel that the narrator was lazy. I've listened to all Easy Rawlins books narrated by Boatman. This time, Boatman was lazy for using the same dialect for his black and white characters. Boatman had not done that before. Additionally, in the last book, Fearless Jones was narrated as a somewhat intelligent man. In this book, Boatman made Jones sound like an idiot and that was offensive. I hope, if Boatman continues to narrate, he puts more effort into making characters more distinct. Continuity in Boatman's performance would make my listening experience more enjoyable.

Worst Narration
Revisado: 01-14-24
The story was good BUT whoever made the decision to have a female narrator for a book with majority male characters, made a huge mistake! It became annoying to follow when a male character was speaking because it was the same voice. And when she did deepen her voice to sound like I man, I grew even more exasperated, The only relief was when this book ended. Not an enjoyable Audiobook experience for me.

Historia
Every day without fail, Travis Devine puts on a cheap suit, grabs his faux-leather briefcase, and boards the 6:20 commuter train to Manhattan, where he works as an entry-level analyst at the city’s most prestigious investment firm. In the mornings, he gazes out the train window at the lavish homes of the uberwealthy, dreaming about joining their ranks. In the evenings, he listens to the fiscal news on his phone, already preparing for the next grueling day in the cutthroat realm of finance. Then one morning Devine’s tedious routine is shattered by an anonymous email: She is dead.
