Historia
For generations, nobles have gathered at a scenic estate once per year to compete. What transpires there is spoken of only in rumors, save for the prizes. Potent, powerful, and precious; the winners are said to receive a gift from magic itself. Reeling after their loss to Kalzidar, the adventurers from Maplebark can only press forward, following advice imparted by the gods. Their divine directions will lead them on a series of twisting paths, branching between old friends and new challenges, before ultimately pointing at a particular estate on a specific evening.

So the story is going along nicely until chapter 54 when the narrator confuses the voices of a captive female gnome and an evil deity. Talk about killing the immersion…

My favorite book in the series so far!
Revisado: 07-22-23
This is by far the best in the series that I have read so far. This is probably my third time listening to it and I still get goosebumps as the various characters come together. I really hope the next book has more of that!

Revisado: 02-21-23
I remember when I first ’met’ Wax and Wayne… I didn’t really like them because they weren’t Vyn and company.
But as their story concludes I believe I will miss them just as much as (if not more than) Kelsier’s original crew. This is by far the best story of all the cosmere novels I have read to date.

So much better than the Lorien series
Revisado: 09-28-21
I was a bit skeptical about this series after the Lorien legacy series. But if you thought that series was a bit forced you will be pleasantly surprised by this one.
To be clear this series takes place with completely different rules than the other books. They are completely unrelated stories. This story has completely different races and completely different technology. Yes they actually use technology instead of magic. It is a great coming of age sci-fi adventure.

Historia
Joseph, a master craftsman and carpenter, stokes the ire of his family when he weds his pregnant (and seemingly unfaithful) betrothed, Mary. Pious, devout, and guided by the dictates of Heaven, Joseph has no issue with taking Mary - who still claims to be a virgin - as his wife and committing himself to the protection of her child, whom he senses is extraordinary. However, there are others who are also aware of how special the child is, and not all have its best interests at heart.

Entertaining, but takes too many liberties.
Revisado: 03-14-20
I received a free review copy of this book from the author at my request.
First, I would like to mention that I thoroughly enjoyed most of this story.
It was a great story about a godly man set upon by ungodly forces who overcomes
with the help of his faith. What's not to love? My only misgiving is that the
story is thoroughly steeped in tradition not the true story of the first
Christmas.
According to a wide range of biblical scholars there is a large amount of
evidence that the Magi did not find the Christ until he was several months old.
I think this story would have been much better if it had told the story of them fleeing to Egypt after the child was born (what I originally thought the story would be).

In the far future, mankind lives safe and secure behind the Chronos Ring - an automatic defense system that encircles the area of space occupied by human beings. The Ring keeps out all of humanity's enemies - in particular, a vicious race of reptilians known as the Parsnaak. On the outer fringe of human-occupied space is the planet Muse, an entire world dedicated and established as a colossal museum - a storehouse of antiquities and relics from the ancient histories of both men and aliens.

A great new series
Revisado: 12-12-19
This is a very interesting story. It is a kind of mash up between James Bond,
Star Wars, and Guardians of the Galaxy. It is quite entertaining in several
ways. Packed with action and laced with intrigue it is hard to say much
about the story with out spoiling it.
That being said there is a lot that is revealed in this story considering it
is only the first book in a series. I will definitely be checking out the other
books soon.
Parental Advisory
There are several explicit sexual scenes that are probably inappropriate for
younger readers. I would not give it an X-rating, but certainly an R.

It's not over yet...
Revisado: 12-09-19
After finishing liberation I was surprised that this was a full length novel,
surely there wasn't that much to do to wrap up the series - boy was I wrong.
This story answers a slew of questions I didn't even know I had:
What will Trappers Colony do with their new found freedom?
What about all of the consortium that ran off and hid?
Who will be the next Supreme Leader?
All of these questions and more are answered in this final conclusion to the
series. This story is one part military strategy, one part political satyr, one
part romance and two parts intrigue as the tensions boil over. If you have read
the story this far you can't go wrong with this conclusion.

A great story!
Revisado: 12-09-19
This is probably one of my favorite stories. I would read Catalyst right before
this book as it continues Brek Trigan's story of survival. There are several
non-events that probably should have been elaborated on, but it's
understandable why they are skipped as none of the main characters are there
for them - I can't go into more detail without spoilers, but if you read the
story you will know what I'm talking about.
That said there is plenty to enjoy in this story. The new characters on the
prison planet are great - they really round out the crew of the series nicely.

This should be the first book of the series
Revisado: 12-09-19
I was a bit confused when first starting this book - I was under the impression
that this book would take place after the first book in the series, however the
events of that book do not occur until the climax of this book. Once getting
past that hurdle this book is quite enjoyable. The political rhetoric is just
enough to be engaging without being overpowering, and the characters are quite
endearing. I personally related to Grell's struggle reconciling his political
passion and providing for his family. Nikia's conflict between her parents and
her husband is a tale as old as time.
The most surprising aspect of this story is the absence of the usual science
fiction morays. There aren't any crazy space battles or unpronounceable
resources that people are fighting over. This story could easily take place
here on earth.
