Historia
Our first meeting was at a nightclub, and it was something straight out of my most romantic fantasies. My ovaries exploded at the sight of the Russian God. And by God, I mean he was ripped, tall, dark, and deadly attractive. There were enough sparks between us to light up a city. Then an explosion blasted through the nightclub, and we got trapped together for three hours, sharing our most personal details...everything but our names. Two years later, our second meeting is the complete opposite of the first. It's clear Misha Petrov, a Russian enforcer for the bratva, despises me.

Goal achiever and peacemaker
Revisado: 02-26-25
I didn't like the story. He was too much of a goal achiever that would climb over dead bodies to get what he wanted. I was scarred by the way that he treated her, there's no way that he would not have some of those characteristics going forward into their relationship.

Too vanilla.
Revisado: 02-18-25
I feel like the story plots are jumping all over the place and I'm listening to my 65 year old Texas White Aunt and Uncle have sex. I know some of these are supposed to be a interracial relationships, but there's something really missing from these stories, all these women are too eager to have settled down suburban relationships with Mr. Nice Guy. It's too vanilla.

AWFUL NARRATION
Revisado: 12-12-24
The content was good. I would have liked more narration of what Seth had to say, she "tested" Seth too much, this chapter was annoying. I wish this book was narrated by AI. The woman who read this book fumbles over words, reads the paragraphs over again, none of it is edited and there is room echos.

Rabbit Holes
Revisado: 12-09-24
About 3/4 of this book can be cut out, most of it is just newspaper articles about Giants, there are some interesting moon-eyed people skeletons. Towards the end of the book is when it gets really good, he kind of starts to draw lines between the Tibetans and Hebrews and that America was the promised land with Giants and Nephilim in them.

Historia
Paul Bäumer is just 19 years old when he and his classmates enlist. They are Germany’s Iron Youth who enter the war with high ideals and leave it disillusioned or dead. As Paul struggles with the realities of the man he has become, and the world to which he must return, he is led like a ghost of his former self into the war’s final hours. All Quiet is one of the greatest war novels of all time, an eloquent expression of the futility, hopelessness and irreparable losses of war.

Historia
The author at 16 years old was evacuated with her family to an internment camp for Japanese Americans, along with 110,000 other people of Japanese ancestry living on the West Coast. She faced an indefinite sentence behind barbed wire in crowded, primitive camps. She struggled for survival and dignity, and endured psychological scarring that has lasted a lifetime. This memoir is told from the heart and mind of a woman now nearly eighty years old who experienced the challenges and wounds of her internment at a crucial point in her development as a young adult.

Well if you ever needed a cry
Revisado: 09-12-23
The book begins with Gruenewald's childhood on Vashon Island, Washington, where she lived with her parents and two younger sisters. She describes a happy and carefree childhood, until the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941. In the aftermath of the attack, a wave of anti-Japanese sentiment swept across the United States, and Gruenewald's family was forced to leave their home and move to an internment camp.
The book chronicles Gruenewald's experiences in the camp, which she describes as a place of fear, uncertainty, and deprivation. She writes about the crowded barracks, the poor food, the lack of privacy, and the constant fear of being sent to a prison camp in Japan. She also writes about the racism and discrimination that she and her family faced from the outside world.
Despite the hardships, Gruenewald and her family found ways to survive and even thrive in the camp. She writes about the importance of community, the power of hope, and the resilience of the human spirit.
Looking Like the Enemy is a moving and important book that tells a story that needs to be heard. It is a reminder of the dangers of prejudice and discrimination, and the importance of standing up for what is right.
The book is written in a clear and engaging style, and Gruenewald's voice is both honest and compassionate. She does not shy away from the difficult details of her experience, but she also writes with humor and insight.
Looking Like the Enemy is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the history of Japanese American internment in the United States. It is also a powerful reminder of the importance of fighting for justice and equality.
In addition to its historical significance, Looking Like the Enemy is also a valuable contribution to the literature of trauma. Gruenewald's writing is unflinching in its depiction of the emotional and psychological toll of internment, but it is also ultimately hopeful. She writes about the importance of healing and forgiveness, and she offers a message of resilience and hope for future generations.
Looking Like the Enemy is a powerful and important book that deserves to be read by as many people as possible. It is a reminder of the dangers of prejudice and discrimination, and the importance of standing up for what is right. It is also a story of hope and resilience that will stay with you long after you finish reading it.

Historia
Los Angeles, 1943. As the Allies beat back the Nazis in the Mediterranean and the United States military slowly closes in on Tokyo, Walt Disney cranks out wartime propaganda and the Cocoanut Grove is alive with jazz and swing every night. But behind this sunny façade lies a darker reality. Up in the lush foothills of Hollywood, a woman floats lifeless in the pool of one of California’s trendiest hotels. When Maggie Hope learns that this woman was engaged to her former fiancée, John Sterling, and that he suspects her death was no accident, intuition tells her he’s right.

Missing some stuff
Revisado: 04-12-23
I read this book based on a comment that the author put on another book I was reading "Democracy in the Dancefloor" if she had kept reading about two paragraphs later the author says that they put an African-American military service man in a segregated area of the "integrated" dancehall the Hollywood Canteen. That would have been a huge statement to put in the book. Also she idealizes Walt Disney a little bit too much for my taste, he was quite racist.
