Historia
Fitzwilliam Darcy, standing irritably at the edge of the Meryton assembly, declines to dance with Elizabeth Bennet. In a mood of revulsion, he rejects her without concern of being overheard. Country pretensions are always in need of squashing, and what better way to make clear he would not partner anyone outside his party? However, when he looks over at her, she does not appear humbled at all. She is secretly laughing at him!

Jane Austen couldn’t have written better. The plot is all one could wish for, the dialogue sparkles with sharp wit and intelligence, and Mr.Darcy’s voice sounds like a man, not a woman’s version of a man, I’ve listened to this twice, and will revisit this old friend again.

Historia
One distressing night in Ramsgate, Elizabeth Bennet impulsively offers Georgiana Darcy aid. Scandalous rumors soon surround the ladies and Fitzwilliam Darcy, forcing Elizabeth and Darcy, strangers to each other, to marry. Darcy despises everything about his marriage to the daughter of an insignificant country gentleman with vulgar relations. Georgiana, humiliated after a near-elopement with George Wickham and full of Darcy pride, hates her new sister. Their family look upon Elizabeth with suspicion and do little to hide their sentiments.

Love The Story
Revisado: 03-31-21
I really like this story. Elizabeth shines brightly as, true to Jane Austen, she demonstrates her kindness, and fortitude in the difficult circumstances she finds herself in. FD is his arrogant self, Georgiana is a spoiled, lying, manipulative brat who is finally caught and dealt with. This story is well written, the characters very well developed, and at last we have our happy ending.
Harry Frost has been my favorite male narrator, and I have to say that this narration is off - it's as though his director told him to slow the narration down, and the cadence of his speech is ponderous with odd pauses in almost every sentence he utters, and it just is disapppointingly unnatural and un-Harry. He's much better than this. If this had been the first narration I'd heard Harry perform, I'm not sure I'd seek his narrated books just to listen to him as I have done. I say this honestly because I really want him not to do this again!

Historia
Once trapped by marriage to a woman he loathed, Fitzwilliam Darcy is finally free again. Resentful, bewildered, and angry, he is eager to begin his life over - preferably with a woman who is the exact opposite of his wife. He never imagined a short stay in Hertfordshire would bring him face to face with his worst nightmare; a woman similar in face, form, and name. He certainly never expected her to be so impossible to ignore.

Harry Frost At His Best Before The Change
Revisado: 02-16-20
I loved this Audiobook because I’m ADD and miss many nuances in reading — and Harry Frost made the experience a delight. I came back to this book to find out why I didn’t want to a buy a new book with his narration, and sure enough he has completely changed his cadence, too many drawling phrases and pauses in newer narrations which I found so disappointing. But this book is great, the plot is original- not canon - and truly enjoyable.

Revisado: 04-03-19
I have enjoyed Julie Garwood's books for years for their whimsical female personalities, humor, and love stories. This not only is not her best; I've read some of hers that weren't "her best". This book just is bad. I don't think there was much dialogue at all for what seemed like chaaaaaapters. The writing was basically Ms. Garwood's usual highlander-love-story formula without the much personality, humor, whimsy or passion. As an audio book, it was about 4 hours too long. Seriously. Excruciating, except for the fact that Rosalyn Landor is an exceptional narrator.

Promising Story-Horrible Narration
Revisado: 11-18-18
The story is promising, but unfortunately I was unable to finish this set because the narration was simply terrible. I haven't bought the Kindle set yet; I'm still simmering about paying for the set and not being able to stand the narration. With respect to the author, and with respect to Ms. Hewitt, I will never buy another book that is narrated by Pearl Hewitt.

What if the last man in the world she could be prevailed upon to marry...is her husband? In Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth Bennet tells the proud Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy that she wouldn't marry him if he were the last man in the world. But what if she never said the words? What if circumstances conspired to make her accept Darcy the first time he proposes?

Darcy Gets What He Wants - So He Thinks...!!
Revisado: 11-09-18
When FD proposes, he gives EB no chance to refuse because he kisses her, is observed, she is compromised, and they must marry. He is ecstatic, she tries to make the best of things as the events carry her unwillingly but inexorably into marriage with a man she does not know and does not love. She decides to make the best of things, and is cautious because she has been warned by Wickham of Darcy's temper. She, like many women of her time, is extremely conscious of a husband's power over his wife and children, and measures the risks to her sisters if there is any resulting scandal, and the benefits to her family of having contracted a much sought-after bachelor. She tries to please FD but the bouyant spirits he fell in love with are oppressed by her efforts to adjust to her situation, and eventually during a serious quarrel he discovers that she married him because he compromised her. He is devastated and sad, they continually miscommunicate and misunderstand one another, they both become despondent over the alienation from one another, then he is injured and she discovers love for him. Although it takes a while for ODC to really start to communicate, once they understand one another the story is very tender and comes to a very satisfying conclusion. Because this story starts after Hunsford, there's not a lot of sparkling EB dialogue here; rather, this is more a thoughtful depiction of EB trying to control her natural high spirits and unruly tongue, following her aunt's advice, and FD learning to unbend and open up. If you've ever truly suffered from unrequited love or disappointed hopes, this story will resonate.. I would rate this story an R due to graphic bedroom scenes, especially toward the end, between husband and wife.
The narration is superlative; the narrator's voice, inflection, accent -- everything was a pleasure. There are some JAFF audiobooks I simply won't purchase because I can't stand the narrator.

Resourceful, adventurous and utterly indefatigable, Sophy is hardly the mild-mannered girl that the Rivenhalls expect when they agree to take her in. Kind-hearted Aunt Lizzy is shocked; stern Cousin Charles and his humorless fiancée Eugenia are disapproving. With her inimitable mixture of exuberance and grace Sophy soon sets about endearing herself to her family, but finds herself increasingly drawn to her cousin. Can she really be falling in love with him, and he with her? And what of his betrothal to Eugenia?

Historia
Fourteen-year-old Elizabeth Bennet thought Fitzwilliam Darcy, her friend Georgiana's brother, was the most wonderful, handsomest man in the entire world. When he went to India to fight Britain’s enemies, she made him promise to write her along with Georgie regularly. There wasn't anything improper, since Georgiana and she had sworn to be sisters. When Elizabeth and Georgiana learned that Fitzwilliam was captured, they kept writing letters to him, so that when he was released, he would know that he had not been forgotten by those who loved him.

Lots of Angst
Revisado: 09-25-18
This is a well-written and imaginative story, quite a departure from P&P canon. We still have our Fitzwilliam Darcy, Elizabeth Bennett and Georgianna. I give credit to the author for a good story. I personally found this story to be dark, melodramatic, and laden with sad situations. Darcy suffers dreadfully in India. Elizabeth suffers dreadfully at Longbourn until she is rescued. Georgianna suffers dreadfully at the enforced separation from her brother. The Darcys new married life together is a story of suffering. The author does a brilliant job describing their suffering. This is not the kind of story I will re-read, so I cannot say it is a favorite of mine. But it is different and well done.
Having listened to narrations that completely spoil the anticipated pleasure of JAFF, I give the narrator a 4. She did a pretty good job and her narration did not detract from the story.
