Dalinar Kholin challenged the evil god Odium to a contest of champions with the future of Roshar on the line. The Knights Radiant have only ten days to prepare—and the sudden ascension of the crafty and ruthless Taravangian to take Odium’s place has thrown everything into disarray. Desperate fighting continues simultaneously worldwide—Adolin in Azir, Sigzil and Venli at the Shattered Plains, and Jasnah in Thaylenah. The internal struggles, the growth of the characters.
Revisado: 02-23-25
I liked the tying up of the characters stories. I did not care for the way some of them ended. I have noticed that some cultures tend to see that a sad ending to be heroic. That evil was left because peoplekind need it was heavy handed. The people are left in darkness with almost no light.

Truth and encouragement
Revisado: 12-08-22
Dr. Jeremiah reveals the truth. Where we are, what it means, and what we need to do with our time. He exposes the evil wickedness of socialism, but encourages us to continue or start following Christ sincerely daily. Times will be tough, but Christ has overcome. Trusting Him is the only way to maintain stability in our lives.

Historia
Black Americans have long been shackled to the Democrats. Seeing no viable alternative, they have watched liberal politicians take the Black vote for granted without pledging anything in return. In Blackout, Owens argues that this automatic allegiance is both illogical and unearned. She contends that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism and exposes the ideals that hinder the Black community’s ability to rise above poverty, live independent and successful lives, and be an active part of the American dream.

Truth Speaking
Revisado: 12-31-21
The author has written a well balanced truthful essay about conditions in so many countries including the US. Each example cited is clearly saying that all humankind is fallen. Since the original fall humanity has gone from perfection to chaos. We were endowed with freedom of choice, with accountability through consequences to follow. No one is without fault.
Arrogance abounds, while humility is looked down upon.

This is a fiction book.
Revisado: 07-01-21
I enjoy Mark Goodwin's books. The backdrop to the stories is a work of realistic comparison of the light and darkness in our world. Families count, liberty to follow what the founding fathers envisioned for this Republic. What they were unable to envision was the fully developed darkness of mens' souls that are deceived. Every truth is called a lie. Every lie is held up as truth. The line is very clearly shown in these books concerning the difference in light & darkness of the characters. No character is held up to be put on a pedestal. All characters have human backgrounds of failure. The characters suffer loss of loved ones, temptations, the ability to be deceived and betrayed by those they trust. The characters on the opposite side are shown to present circumstances that cause loss of loved ones, encourage circumstances to tempt others to fail and even work to deceive for compensation the deception that harms others.
The end of these books is always a change in lives, and it works out in a way that is according to mens' lies or truth an ultimately works according to the plans. Kevin Pierce is an excellent performer. Mark Goodwin never puts his audience in situations that involve fowl language nor sexual encounters.

Neither side has gained an advantage, and the threat of a betrayal by Dalinar’s crafty ally Taravangian looms over every strategic move. Now, as new technological discoveries by Navani Kholin’s scholars begin to change the face of the war, the enemy prepares a bold and dangerous operation. The arms race that follows will challenge the very core of the Radiant ideals.

the narrators are excellent. they give life to the stories. kinda like wit, or hoyd. the cohesiveness of the stories to other stories in the cosmere make very interesting to follow. the characters are like real people. the handling of the mental illness and fatigue are honest and dealt with realistically and with gentleness.

His life is filled with music, and having only songs for companions, he develops a voice that is unlike any other. What a difference
Revisado: 09-12-20
I struggled with this one. Card is a favorite of mine. This was meandering and a bit hard to follow. Plot was difficult and some of the personality traits were very dark and angry. I am very grateful that his later works are far and away a different tenor than this one.

Historia
At the end of Shadow of the Giant, Bean flees to the stars with three of his children—the three who share the engineered genes that gave him both hyper-intelligence and a short, cruel physical life. The time dilation granted by the speed of their travel gives Earth's scientists generations to seek a cure, to no avail. In time, they are forgotten—a fading ansible signal speaking of events lost to Earth's history. But the Delphikis are about to make a discovery that will let them save themselves, and perhaps all of humanity in days to come.

Prejudice Confronted
Revisado: 10-06-19
Don't judge a book by its cover. Do not assume everyone has the same views. Even though we may not agree, everyone believes they have the correct opinions. They are doing what they think is right. It is our own self centered views that have cost us our ability to feel shame and the ability to be civil in our disagreements. The things that come out of our mouths.... :/
