This was full of organizing tips for people who are mostly already organized. Full of very specific ideas which don't translate to usable advice unless you have a similar space. I recommend "Real Life Organizing" Instead.

Great Book, but a horrible business woman
Revisado: 07-30-24
I loved this book so much! It seemed like exactly what I needed to hear to be inspired to get my space organized. If you listen for inspiration, compassion and ideas alone, it's worth a listen. Unfortunatley she also plugs many of her products, programs and services throughout, so sometimes it gets sales pitchy. Since I enjoyed the book, I looked up her other services and it seems like she went off the deep end and is a greedy, money grabber now. However, most reviewers of her programs say you can get all she provides in this book and early episodes of her podcast. So her pricey programs aren't needed or any new information. So as long as you are ok with her having great ideas, while not being someone you want to emulate, give this book a listen. I loved it and almost wish I could unknow that she's a phoney.

Not the best in series - but a good, solid mystery
Revisado: 04-11-20
I have loved this series. The plots are cleverly crafted and the setting of New Orleans really accentuates the story. I love how the setting is almost like a character! It did bother me a bit that her boss and best friend who is a PI never seems to investigate or help Franki with her cases. What is she doing while Franki investigates everything? I'd love to see the two of them working together.
I had a hard time with this book in the series because the new competing love interest sexually harasses her for the entire book! Sometimes Franki is flattered and intrigued by it, but never calls him out on it. It made me so angry that this was portrayed as somewhat acceptable. And Franki was a really bad girlfriend. She is angry with Bradley almost the whole book because he is busy with work. Meanwhile, he didn't criticize her at all for actually stripping for her job! I almost couldn't finish for that reason, but I'm glad I did. The mystery kept me guessing to the end. It was so original and thrilling, I just had to know how it ended and who the murderer was! I have already bought the next book in the series. Here's to hoping Franki can get her act together and actually realize how awesome her man is.

As Katie delves deeper into an online anti-magic underground movement, she starts to suspect that there's something more going on.

Cute story ruined by weird narration
Revisado: 12-28-17
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No. I'm returning it. The narrator sounded like a computer. The lilt of his voice and the way he read the sentences sounded very mechanical. His actual elf voice was great. But I couldn't bear it otherwise. Even with the cute sound effects, my daughter lost interest and couldn't finish it.
How could the performance have been better?
With a different narrator, it might have been a christmas treasure.
Was Children's Book: The Christmas Elf worth the listening time?
Not for us.
Any additional comments?
The overall story was sweet. An elf goes on missions to help cheer up children at Christmas. Truly a sweet Christmas spirit. Maybe try the print version and snuggle up to read it to your kids yourself.

A cleverly written novel which delievers.
Revisado: 04-19-17
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the historical accuracy. It was obvious the author really knew that time period. The setting wasn't just a backdrop; it was like a character.
What does Gemma Dawson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I enjoyed her voices. They weren't over the top, but you could tell who was speaking with the voice changes. She did a good job voicing the men as well. A pleasure to listen to.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. Unfortunately, this book failed to grip me like Rhys Bowen's other books. I loved Royal Spyness and the Molly Murphy mysteries. This one felt more like her Constable Evans books, which I had a hard time getting into. The problem for me with In Farleigh Field was that there was no main character. The viewpoint shifted from character to character and although it gave me a wider scope to view the novel's world through, I just couldn't get attached to any of the characters. The mystery itself was well delivered, however, I found I just didn't really care what happened to the characters. I probably wouldn't have finished it if it wasn't a Rhys Bowen book.
Any additional comments?
A well written novel for people who loved the Constable Evans books.

A Wonderful Story at an affordable price!
Revisado: 12-24-14
What made the experience of listening to A Spy in the House the most enjoyable?
This story was very well written. Lee was able to pull the listener into 19th century London effortlessly, making the setting an intricate, seamless part of the plot. Mary, the main character was likable and there's a wide variety of side characters who kept me entertained. I immediately bought book 2 in the series after finishing this one.
What did you like best about this story?
The heroine was resilient and strong. A wonderful girl who you just cared about. The mystery of it all kept me thinking about the book even when I wasn't listening.
Any additional comments?
I would strongly recommend this book for ages 13+. It does deal with serious issues, like the state of London for the poor in this time period. It dealt with hunger and death without being too overwhelming, but parents may want to listen before their children.

Not Harper's or Ronconi's Best
Revisado: 12-23-14
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The book isn't as intricate and engaging as most of Molly Harper's books. The resolution seemed obvious to me from the beginning and the plot was overly simple.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Just made the characters more dynamic, involved the characters we know and love already more in the story. It also could've done with a side plot or a few more twists.
What aspect of Amanda Ronconi’s performance would you have changed?
The accent!!!! Yes the main character was Irish, but Ronconi's accent was sooo annoying. I love Amanda Ronconi, but honestly, I struggled to make it through this one due to the irritating Boston/Irish accent. Ewww!
Did A Witch's Handbook of Kisses and Curses inspire you to do anything?
No.
Any additional comments?
I haven't given up on Molly Harper, or Amanda Ronconi. But my advice is to give this one a pass, or at least listen to the sample first to see if the accent will bug you.

Great Story, Riordan does it again!
Revisado: 10-24-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. Although the narrator was different, he grew on me. It's always weird when they switch up the narrators but Nick Chamian did a pretty good job. The only thing I didn't like was I hated his voice for Niko, it didn't sound like his character at all. He made him sound like a jerky jock. But I enjoyed listening and will re-listen to this title for sure.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Leo. I love how his character matures and grows up in this book.
Which scene was your favorite?
Too many good ones to choose.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It really made me think. I loved how well developed the characters were and how they evolved throughout the story. ***Possible SPOILER ALERT I was dismayed that after 9 books Riordan inserted a bit of a political agenda. (Pro-gay relationships). I feel this is an issue that doesn't belong in a children's book. Just be aware that a certain character "comes out" so if that is a concern to you, it would be good to have a discussion with your child after they read this book. It's not a central theme, but something some parents might like to be aware of.

Dissapointing...lost?
Revisado: 04-20-12
Is there anything you would change about this book?
This series has always been a little hard to listen to, because it changes from character to character very often. I had to skip back and re-listen to understand what was going on. I assume in the books there is a gap between paragraphs or something to indicate changing scenes. Maybe future audio versions could have sounds of some kind as indicators.
What was most disappointing about Ridley Pearson’s story?
This was the most poorly written book in the series. I felt like it was a failure as a novel. ****POSSIBLE MILD SPOILER ALERT**** I am not always opposed to cliffhangers but the end of this book was ridiculous. There were way too many loose ends. The book posed millions of questions but no answers. All the other installments have left us with some plot resolution, even though we know there's a lot more to be done. This story didn't. It was like he just ended. Like, "Well, time's up better get this to the publisher. I'll just give him what I've got" The story was full of distrust and teenage pigheadedness. The relationships so intricately built between the Keepers in the first four books broke down completely. They stopped being able to communicate. The whole team spirit they built is gone. Overall, it was a failure because there was no character growth. The characters did not evolve or change, they were stagnant. It was really disappointing. Pearson can do so much better. We know that, as evidenced by the first four books. Shame on the editor for not pressing for a re-write.
What aspect of MacLeod Andrews’s performance would you have changed?
Some voices seemed off but mostly he did well. Just wish the scene/character changes could be indicated, instead of smooshed together.
Was Kingdom Keepers V worth the listening time?
I suppose. There was as much action as ever. But don't expect the characters to develop. They are static.
