Historia
It all started with a contract signed by him, then by me, while our families watched. While my father sat silent, a man defeated, giving his daughter to the Benedetti monsters. I obeyed. I played my part. I signed my name and gave away my life. I became their living, breathing trophy, a constant symbol of their power over us. That was five years ago. Then came the time for him to claim me. For Salvatore Benedetti to own me. I had vowed vengeance. I had learned hate. And yet, nothing could have prepared me for the man who now ruled my life.

Abusive men
Revisado: 06-30-24
I disliked how each brother was abusive, overly dominant, or just plain mean. Yet, each woman fell in love with her partner despite so many red flags. The warning signs were there from the beginning, yet because there was such a strong physical attraction, they went ahead with the relationship and married into a mob family. Disappointing.

Historia
Against all odds, three Slovakian sisters have survived years of imprisonment in the most notorious death camp in Nazi Germany: Auschwitz. Livia, Magda, and Cibi have clung together, nearly died from starvation and overwork, and the brutal whims of the guards in this place of horror. But now, the allies are closing in and the sisters have one last hurdle to face: the death march from Auschwitz, as the Nazis try to erase any evidence of the prisoners held there. Due to a last minute stroke of luck, the three of them are able to escape formation and hide in the woods for days.

Touching Story
Revisado: 03-23-24
It was a wonderfully written book. I was absorbed into the story and had a difficult time putting the book down. My only complaint, and it is a big one, is the narrator. She was unfamiliar with the Yiddish and Hebrew used, and I cringed at every mispronunciation.

Beautiful story

Loved the music! Such a treat with an audiobook. When I first read about the vocal instrumentation, I wanted to hear a sample of what it sounded like because I had never heard of such a thing. It really added to the story. The entire pieces included at the end were wonderful.

Disappointing
Revisado: 06-14-23
All of the characters’ voices were grating and the story line was not believable. Save your credit for a better book.

Disappointed
Revisado: 03-22-23
I liked the first part of the book. Great characters, exciting story…it was difficult to have to pause. There was such a big build up and I wondered how it was going to end. How would our hero catch the bad guy? What mayhem had been planned by the gang of bad guys? But the ending was so disappointing. It felt like the author got tired of writing and decided to finish it as quick as he could.
However, the narrator was exceptional. I loved his voice and tone. He read so clearly and with great inflections. Instead of looking up the author’s other books, I’m going to search for books voiced by the narrator!
