Hard to relate to the characters given they are so cliched -- abusive boss, incompetent protagonist, shallow friends and dismissive victim. Showed a lot of promise but failed to deliver on multiple levels.

Slow to Start but Picks Up

This is a good second installment in what I hope will be a continuing series. It could have been given a better editor but I understand the challenges with an accomplished writer. I had a good heads up that it would be a slow start but the ending was worth it. Great character development.

Left Something to be Desired

The plot has some twists and turns but suffers from predictability. For a best-selling author of a best-selling detective series, the protagonist's credibility is called into question when she fails that art of detecting. This book is part of series but Audible is missing the third installment.

My expectations for a good mystery/thriller are to like at least one of the characters. The bullying and hate featured in the book was a little over the top. Two primary characters are unbelievable. It was a struggle to complete it.

Great Narration but Little Plot

Interesting Premise, Need Character Development

The book got great reviews when it was released. It is an interesting premise but takes quite a while for the story to develop. It's not a page turner. Slow and steady. Almost too many twists and turns.

A Lot of Promise with Little Delivery

The story had promise but failed to deliver. The characters grow on you, since the intent is to create a series. Spent too much on the "bad guys". More thriller than mystery. I wanted to know how they solved the case not how evil the "bad guys" are, That's a given.

More Soap Opera than Mystery/Thriller

I have really enjoyed this series and took a few months off before listening to the next entry. Little character development and the plot line fell a little short compared to the previous books. Some of the characters were near insufferable. Pace was slow.
