Historia
Sound Medicine takes listeners on a journey through the structure of the mouth, ears, and brain to understand how sound is translated from acoustic vibrations into meaningful neurological impulses. Renowned neurologist and Ayurvedic expert Dr. Kulreet Chaudhary explains how different types of sound impact the human body and brain uniquely, and explores the physiological effects of sound vibration, from altering mood to healing disease.

Useful & Interesting, but cites pseudoscientific evidence to support theoretical claims.
Revisado: 03-24-25
When this book is good, it's very good. When this book is bad, it can touch on claims that have been disproven enough to call it pseudoscience. Towards the end, it drifts outside the scope of sound healing and into some very "theory of everything" pseudoscientific mechanisms.
Personally, I find the theorizing in the book too be almost useless, but the things she says that are based on anecdotal patient outcomes and personal experience and her relationship with her spiritual teacher are much more interesting and don't require the same burden of proof, which is where the book really shines.

aristocrat propaganda
Revisado: 05-14-24
old money European writes propaganda under a philosophical veil prescribing underclass subservience to traditionalist centralized government as a panacea to the problems of the 20th century. hog-wash.

Historia
When a ghost ship is discovered, its crew presumed dead after trying to reach the storm-shrouded island Akina, Navani Kholin must send an expedition to make sure the island hasn't fallen into enemy hands. Knights Radiant who fly too near find their Stormlight suddenly drained, so the voyage must be by sea. Shipowner Rysn Ftori lost the use of her legs but gained the companionship of Chiri-Chiri, a Stormlight-ingesting winged larkin, a species once thought extinct. Now Rysn's pet is ill, and any hope for Chiri-Chiri’s recovery can be found only at the ancestral home of the larkin.

good scripting and editing.
Revisado: 03-28-24
obviously the stormlight archive uses fantastic narrators. although in the main line books they are split up chapter by chapter where chapters that predominantly feature a male character's perspective are read by the male narrator and chapters that feature predominantly a female characters perspective are read by the female. however, in this one it's been broken up a bit more granularly almost resembling the script to a TV show or movie and the way those performances are edited together is absolutely fantastic. as far as an immersive listening experience, this is one of the best I've come across, especially since I'm already fairly fond of the main characters in this book as they are very compelling side characters from the mainline series.

Historia
Tim Kennedy has a problem; he only feels alive right before he’s about to die. Kennedy, a Green Beret, decorated Army sniper, and UFC headliner, has tackled a bull with his bare hands, jumped out of airplanes, dove to the depths of the ocean, and traveled the world hunting poachers, human traffickers, and the Taliban. But he’s also the same man who got kicked out of the police department, fire department, and as an EMT, before getting two women pregnant four days apart, and finally, been beaten up by his Special Forces colleagues.

better than expected
Revisado: 02-14-23
I thought this would be a lot of self grandization and some bullshit "what I learned" follow ups, it has a little of that, but over all it's a very interesting story of you like 1st hand combat accounts and are interested in the history of US involvement in the middle east.

Historia
Can’t Hurt Me, David Goggins’ smash hit memoir, demonstrated how much untapped ability we all have but was merely an introduction to the power of the mind. In Never Finished, Goggins takes you inside his Mental Lab, where he developed the philosophy, psychology, and strategies that enabled him to learn that what he thought was his limit was only his beginning and that the quest for greatness is unending.

Goggins
Revisado: 02-07-23
Shit makes you behave differently and want to be a Savage in your own life. I don't run out work out, but Goggins inspires me to do better. I'm a partner in a manufacturing business. often times I could pack it in an hour or two before we close, but this book makes me want to be a silent leader, so instead of packing it in early in the last hour or two when all my office work or production tasks are done, I do the shittiest cleaning/maintenance task I can find to make sure I'm staying hard and treating my workers right. all because Goggin's books challenge you to want more from yourself.

At last, one of the world’s greatest works of science fiction is available - just as author Stanislaw Lem intended it. To mark the 50th anniversary of the publication of Solaris, Audible, in cooperation with the Lem Estate, has commissioned a brand-new translation - complete for the first time, and the first ever directly from the original Polish to English. the attribution of beatificince to the unknown
Revisado: 07-30-19
wonderful narration. I did not know what I was getting into at first I thought I would be slugging through cheesy sci-fi. The introduction and setting give no expectation of what you'll find in this story. however for those who will take the time to unpack the multiple layers of meaning you will find a highly thought provoking work of literature.

Historia
In The Social Leap, William von Hippel lays out a revolutionary hypothesis, tracing human development through three critical evolutionary inflection points to explain how events in our distant past shape our lives today. From the mundane, such as why we exaggerate, to the surprising, such as why we believe our own lies and why fame and fortune are as likely to bring misery as happiness, the implications are far-reaching and extraordinary.
